Is there a walking club near Ashby de la Zouch?
      #112839 - 09/05/2008 23:22

I am a new member and wondered if there is a walking group in or near to Ashby de la Zouch?

If not is there anyone who lives nearby that would like to go walking at the weekends or in the evenings? I work full time and I am also very unfit at the moment but would love to start getting out and doing some excercise.

Hi Lynn,

I live in Whitwick and would love to go walking! I work full time and have a 10 year old daughter so evenings or weekends are best for me and I need something local as I haven't got time to travel very far!

Let me know when you are free and we can meet up somewhere.

Penny

Hi Penny,

Thank you for your reply.

That's great we shall start our own walking club! I am rather unfit at the moment so if it's OK with you we may have to strat with shorter walks (3 miles is about my maximum for now I think). I am away on hol's for a week with my sister and her kids for the bank holiday week so I'll get my thinking cap on and PM you with some dates and suggestions for early June.

Kind regards

Lynn

That's great Lynn,

I'm also on holiday during bank holiday week so early june would be great. I used to have a book of walks around Ashby, I'll see whether I still have it lurking amongst my piles of "useful things"!

I hope you have a lovely break and see you soon!

Penny

Hi Penny

I have just noticed a new post from Melr asking if there's a walking club near Swadlincote so I think I'll email her and see if she would like to join us in early June. Our walking club is starting to gather momentum already.....

I have a few books on walks in Leicestershire but they all seem to be between 8 and 10 miles which is maybe a little too much to start with. I'll have a look at them and see if we can shorten any but if you can find your book that would be good (they may be a better length)

Talk soon

Lynn

Hi Carey,

there are quite a few of us that are interested (on this and a couple of other threads (strands?). I am pulling together a list of all the ladies and will be in touch soon (by PM) to see which days are best for us all.

Hoping to see you soon!

Penny

Hi,

I just set up a new post called

Coalville, Ashby, Swadlincote, Burton, Leicestershire & Notts

to try to draw together the various local groups and we are hoping to meet at Foremark Reservoir on Sunday 22nd June at 10:30.

I'm not trying to close this post down just join up several smaler groups into one larger one.

hope to see you next week

Penny

Lynn

I live in Belton, and used to live in Ashby, so that area suits me well, and I know plenty of walks. Do you fancy meeting up.

I work mornings only, so an afternoon or evening would suit me. I would rather not do weekends, as we always seem to be so busy.

If you get in touch we can arrange to meet up, although August is not a good month, as I am working full time for two weeks, and then on holiday for the last week, so perhaps September would be a good time to start.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Carole
