Shoes
      #112270 - 08/05/2008 22:15

I need some summer shoes that I can wear mainly with trousers. I need to be able to walk a distance in them so they have to be comfy. Also want to be able to wear them for travelling so must solid on my feet, so no mules etc.

Anyone suggest something like this for extra wide feet? Most of what I see won't fit me!

Also I want to wear with black or navy so any ideas on colour?

I've just bought three pairs of shoes from ebay. Fingers (or should that be toes) crossed, that they fit.

I like Gabor shoes for wide feet and something that comes up high over the top of the foot, is good for trousers.

What about White, with black or navy looks very summery.

Happy hunting,

Loo

I wish I could help you but I have neither wide feet or it seems, the ability to wear comfy shoes! They all seem like bliss in the shop but then kill me when I get home. The comfiest I have ever bought are Carvela and Moshulu, but not sure how they would be for width. Have you tried Shoe Tailor.

As to colour, what about red? it is a colour which actually goes with an awful lot of other colours and would be nice and bright for summer, now that it appears we might be getting one.

Bright pink also looks lovely with black or navy.

Have you tried Hotter shoes?- I have very wide feet and they mpstly fit me very comfortably. The designs are a bit stodgy, but they have lots of nice colours.

their website is www.hottershoes.com

One thing that has always bugged me - we make so much fuss about taking children to Clarks and getting the right width fitting and then suddenly when we are adults our feet are all supposed to be a standard width!

I sympathise Holly! I too have wide feet and find it very difficult to find any shoes that fit especially anything for the summer or something a bit glamorous for going out. I too have a wardrobe full of shoes that fitted beautifully in the shop but changed to evil instruments of torture in the bag on the way home!
can you help us girls?

Tan or caramel goes with both. Have a look at Fly flots.

Hi Hollie
I have struggled to find wide enough shoes over the years, but last summer decided to make a concerted effort. Hotter sent shoes which were no wider than my old clarks shoes. I looked at loads of online sites, and few tell you exactly how wide their shoes are!!
After trecking around every shoe shop in the three nearest large towns to me, I eventually discovered that clarks had a new range, which tho they didn't specify them as 'extra wide' were actuallty wide enough for me! And had lovely crepe soles so were nice and bouncy.
I've also had shoes made for me in the past by 'GreenShoes' in totnes, though they are of a particular style. You can chose colours and mixes of colours - especially great for children!
I've also bought Ecco boots and sandles in the past - truly comfy footwear but not cheap but very long lasting.
Good luck with your search...

Hi Holly, I have recently purchased a pair of ecco walking shoes. They are for wider feet and apart from my fitflops the most comfy. They come in a range of great colours, blue, white, stone etc and do go great with trousers.

Check out the web for a store near you.

Hollyuk, have you tried Evans, they do a great selection of wide fitting shoes, trendy and otherwise. They do a range of shoes also by a designer called Georgina Goodman, they are really lovely shoes.

In the summer, I live in Birkenstocks, that I buy from QVC, much cheaper than any other outlet, if anyone is going to Cyprus there is a great Birkenstock shop in St Andrews Street, Limassol, magwii, you will probably know of it, they are about a third cheaper than the UK. I also have a couple of pairs of crocks for casual wear, I know people either love or hate them, but they are so comfy and keep your feet cool at the same time. Plasmo xx

I went into my local shoe shop and tried on loads! I found one pair of Gabour Comfort Shoes which fit - but they were 'proper' shoes and may have been uncomfortable when it was really hot. However I did get some sandals which are branded 'Saimon'. They have a wedge, padded insole, strap round the back and are in bronze and gold and look very pretty with both black, navy and brown. Really pleased as they are very cosy.

I may go back for some of the Gabour for the Autumn/Winter.

I found some of the hotter not wide enough, and to be honest so many of them are really old fashioned.
