Best dishwashing products
      #108008 - 29/04/2008 23:52

Great excitement, our first dishwasher is being delivered tomorrow! Wont be able to use it for a bit as the kitchen looks a bit like a bomb site, contents of the kitchen in boxes all over the house, we have set up a sort of field kitchen in the back sitting room & are washing dishes in the bathroom!
I hadn't realised how expensive some dishwashing products were. I shop at Sainsburys & Aldis, can you recommend any good products.
My previous Q. was dishwasher recommendations; I went for the Miele from John Lewis, their price was really good, I know they have their "never knowingly undersold" philosophy but they can be expensive however their sales staff were a credit to them, really knowledgable & helpful.

You will find that they send you a sample pack with your new dishwasher. Each one is supposedly better than the others, which translated in my cynical mind means they are all the same. My choice is dependent upon whether any are on special offer. But just try the lot eventually and see which you personally prefer. Whichever, beats hand washing any day! I now find it a drag to empty the machine - lazy or what!

Hi
I use standard Finish tablets (three in one) which I find perfectly adequate whatever the cycle. I don't like the gel tabs which you can insert without unwrapping as Im often loading dishwasher with wet hands and they get wet in the box and all start to dissolve and leak on each other, stick together, etc etc.
Its great to load everything and leave machine to do the work though... once your kitchen is finished sit back relax and enjoy.

Hi susiekettles
I see you shop at Aldi - I find their dishwash tabs v. good and more competitively priced. Shop around and see what suits you and your machine. Enjoy being free of the sink!!

Have always been totally confused about 3 in 1, then 4 in 1, then lo and behold 5 in 1's ..... on top of which I have one of those glass protect thingies dangling on the side of the basket, also put in Finish rinse, plus the salt.....

So what do I really need to pay for??? Should the 5 in 1 tablet do everything?!?!? (I don't find it does)

Only brand I've used that was not very good was Tesco's own.
