Would you dare to bare?
      #106960 - 28/04/2008 17:15

I was reading a feature on MSN last week which asked women how they would feel going out without make up. My question to you all is

Can you leave the house without your face on?

I've never been too great with make-up and my job dictates that I can't wear it to work - at least not every day. If I'm going out in the evening I do try to make the effort or if I feel low I will do my hair and make up to go shopping. (Couldn't bear the thought of bumping into people looking drab esecially if I'm feeling it!)

So is it jut me?????

When reading the title I thought it was going to be about nudist beaches!

Yes, I go out without make up all of the time, wouldn't think twice. I wear it when if feel like it. I don't feel "better" for wearing it though.

I did once know somebody who would not leave the house without putting makeup on - literally .. not even to the shops.

One day.. along long time ago I ventured to the local shops looking a complete mess...and I mean a mess.I lived in a student area at the time so it didn't really matter. While at the shops I met..wait for it...the man who would become my husband (we've been together for 13 years!)

LadyWillow

My best friend of over 30 years is one who will not leave the house without the full face on. I can count on one hand the number of times I have seen her without (and that includes going on holiday with her!)

I am just glad that I can function without it.

I feel I can get away without make-up if my hair's been washed that day, but if I'm having a non-hairwashing day I really, really need the slap on!

I also thought this was about baring all,but yes make up is never a big issue with me, i generally put on a bit for work but you can guarantee by coffee break its all come off and i don't bother replacing it and besides i've always detested lipstick/gloss always feels really thick and nasty on your lips doesn't matter what make you use.

It's worth remembering that much of the make up we put on our faces is INGESTED into our bodies

Now that just can't be good for us!

Cat ... is your friend generally secure and confident? Is it just make up she has a "thing" about , or is she insecure? Make up gives some woman a boost of confidence I guess.

No I can't! I have very thick glasses so have to put eye make-up on or I look as if I have piggy eyes! Also need foundation in winter to give my pasty features a bit of colour, and a bit of blusher all the year round. Not into heavy make up but not into nothing either!

Lady Willow

Said friend is not overly confident, probably more so now but I do think she uses make up as a mask to hide behind. Although having said that, I am not a confident person either but I wouldn't do anything to draw attention to myself and one of the reasons I don't ike make up (if this makes sense)

I have to wear light makeup during the day (you know the type that doesnt look as if you are wearing any,you just look like you but better)
In the evening I wear heavier makeup (dramatic eyes and lips etc)
I am loving Laura geller for day and Bobbi Brown for nighr
I Love my beauty products and I am a makeup junkie!!

Yes is the answer I can go bare.
I am lucky in the fact that my complexion is generally fairly good and I am olive skinned with reasonably dark coloured lips.
Apart from odd days when I dab on a bit of concealer around my dark circles under my eyes I go bare most days

Yes Cat I to like Lady Willow thought you might be asking about beach wear or not and all that goes with that subject

I go bare most of the time, I have tons of make up, It all depends how I feel that day, and where I am going. I dont wear any make up at all for work.

I love swimming topless. Anyone who has big boobs knows how liberating it is. Boobs, floating free, not hanging down, and no bra. And no wet swimsuit afterwards, just a quick rub down and you're okay.

I'll sunbathe topless quite happily as long as I'm not on my own.

But not so sure about going knickerless.

I don't wear make-up unless I'm going out or meeting someone. I do feel really lazy about that though. It's just too much effort to wear it every day. I would always wear it to work or if I had an appointment with a friend etc though! I have a neighbour who is quite incredible. She NEVER steps out of the house without full make-up on, her hair immaculate and wearing lovely clothes. She even does the gardening in a leather jacket and heels!! She makes me feel like a slut...

I keep telling myself 'I must make more effort' - and try for a few days before lapsing back again....

I have "gone without" on occasion...and always bumped into someone I know! I am of the piggy eyes brigade too and I'm afraid that nowadays I can dare to bare at home but no, no, and thrice no outside!!
And as for topless, no way Jose. I am very well endowed and feel much more comfortable with a bit of upholstery going on!

I'm shameless!

I looked at some of the females on holiday last year, and the year before, and though "why not?" I'm not a perfect 10, or 12, or even 14, maybe a 16 (just) at a very tight squeeze. But I'm in better shape than a lot of them. And anyway, who is likely to recognise me?
