Oven Cleaning Companies
      #106770 - 28/04/2008 12:22

Has anyone ever used one of those companies that come round to your house and clean your oven for you? I loathe and detest oven-cleaning and mine is now desperately in need of a good clean. How much do these companies charge, and does anyone have any recommendations?

I need to do something about mine before it becomes a major health hazard!

I used Ovenclean and thought they were fab. Took all the bits outside where they dipped them in something, don't know what it is but it worked! No mess in the house at all.

Oven really did look like new when finished. That was a couple of years ago now, and I think I'll give them another call!

Cookaburra Oven Clean Services
Address: 3, Westford Court, Wellington, Somerset
Postcode: TA21 0EW
Telephone: 01823 664292

This is franchised across the country. A friend used them when she moved into a new house and they have a set fee no matter how long the job takes. The results were exceptional.

Yes, can support the accolade for Cookaburra (not sure if that's how you spell it?!). Very quick, neat, clean and tidy, no mess in the house at all and they clean the hobs, grill pans and twiddly bits.

I have a mid-size double oven and it cost £65 - not cheap, but worth every penny for an oven slob like myself!

I used Ovenu. Again it is a franchise and oven was just like new when he finished. Would certainly use them again.

Actually, I think it was Ovenu I used, not Ovenclean?

I've used Ovenclean and they were great - it cost £45 about 3 or 4 years ago. We then chucked the cooker out rather than clean it again - it was over 20 years old - and our new rangecooker is just about ready to be cleaned for the first time. I would definitely recommend them - life is far too short to clean an oven.

I used a company called Steamclean for my dad's oven when he moved house. New house was filthy and I drew the line at cleaning another person's oven.
Worked very well and he steamed the extractor fan as well!

Thanks for all the recommendations. All the companies mentioned sound pretty good so will just have to pick one at random I think!

My Mum worked for the WRVS, attatched to an army regiment in Germany until she retired. When the soldiers & their families moved out of their quarter it would be inspected and was expected to be immaculate. They had many tricks for getting things in tip top condition, but the oven cleaning sounded rather dangerous (& combustible) I think it involved caustic soda!
Its a horrible job, I always mean to wipe my spills up as I go along, but...........

I used Ovenclean and they are amazing. We were selling our house and the oven was a large range type one which was well, well used. It came up like new and no chemicals were used in the house as they took the loose pieces outside to soak/clean. Inside the cooker was cleaned by mainly elbow grease. As I am an asthamtic I was a bit cautious about any company that sprayed the oven with chemicals then left it for a couple of hours then returned. With Ovenclean there was no residual smell and the results were incredible and I would use them again. Just google Ovenclean and put in your postcode and they will give you the number of the nearest operator.

Used Ovenu twice - they cleaned two ovens (a single and a combi) for £55 and both were good as new afterwards. Would definitely use their services once a year and try and keep on top of the job in between. They'll do your hob too. It's a national franchise.

We visited U.K. last year and sister in law told me about oven cleaning firms. Didn't think we had any over here in Australia but when we got home found them advertising. Best thing I ever did. Our oven was so dirty from previous owners I couldn't use grill. He spent 3 hours on it and it is like new. Did the exhaust fan as well and said they would do BBQ's. Called after 6 months but said I would wait a bit longer as it was still nice and clean. Friends think I am very spoilt having the oven cleaned for me.
