Dublin

Hi,
As some of you may have read in one of my earlier posts, OH and I are flying to Dublin on Friday, until Monday, to meet up with our ES who is there on business from the USA where he presently lives and works.
We are really looking forward to getting together but as none of us has ever been to Dublin before (or Ireland at all for that matter) and we only have the weekend , can anyone recommend the must-see places and where the good places to eat are which won't break the bank? (We are based at the Holiday Inn).
I would really appreciate your advice.
Many thanks.

Re: Dublin

Lots of things to do and see in Dublin. The Book of Kells in Trinity College.........The Guinness Hop Store.........Kilmainham Jail............Christchurch and St. Patrick's Cathedral where they are filming Series 4 of the Tudors so you may be lucky and see some of the outdoor sets.
I would suggest you get the City Tour Bus .....last time I checked it was 15euro p.p. and it will take you to all the places of interest.

Eating out depends on what type of food you like.......there are lots of Bistros now around the city and Reception at your hotel should be able to advise you.

If you like shopping.......well at the moment all the major stores are having great sales...............

Enjoy your time in Dublin.....

Re: Dublin

Katy15.
Temple bar loads of brilliant bars. If you like the 'craik' go to St John (sinjun) Gogertys for good Irish music. gallahers Boxty House for the traditional Irish pancake meal. OOOOOH I am so jealous.
Of all the 'sights' the one that affected me most was Kilmainham Gaol, mentioned by someone else Definitely,. not to be missed.
Do let us know how you get on

Re: Dublin

agree with carrieb, buy a hop on hop off bus tour, it stops at all the major sights and is so convenient, kilmainham goal is a must, also the viking splash, a tour on the river.

never worry about the weather, your never too far from a pub to get out of the rain.

Have a lovely time.
