I am going with my husband and teenage son to Toronto and Niagara in the October school hols. I have bought city passes for the 3 of us so that means we have an intineray of sorts. Just wondered if anybody has been and could recommend anything, sights to see, places to eat, visit etc. My son would like to see a ice hockey game and wondered if anybody did this and where to book tickets. Really any tips would be welcome. Thanks |

Hi Fofo, I haven't been to Toronto, but have been to Niagra. If you do one thing do the Maid of the Mist, its great fun, and when you get on get straight up the front of the boat. YOU WILL GET WET!! When in Niagra, the Canadian side is best, not a lot over the American side, but nice to walk over the bridge and walk in the park. We used the hop on hop off buses that run up and down, we also took a ride out to Niagra Park. Some people are disappointed with Niagra, becos it is a bit touristy, but we stayed in the Sheraton which had the best view of the falls, and that first look is definitely a "WOW". There is also a v.good chinese All you can eat in Niagra town, ask your hotel. Have a lovely time and enjoy it. Snowy x |

Hi we went in June to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. Had a fab time, must do maid of mist excellent, also CN tower was good and your son will love the hockey hall of fame. We bought a week pass for the local tour bus which was excellant value, hope on and off as you like. If you dont have transfer booked from airport to hotel the toronto express is excellent value we booked and paid on line before travelling and found it first class. The people are so friendly and the city so clean you will have a great time. The harbour side area is lovely and can recommend the steak, first class. Have a great time. One down side not much duty free as you leave toronto airport so buy before in uk |

We went to Toronto and went to Niagara for the day! It was a long ride, we all fell asleep except for Mr. F who was driving. We had a wonderful time at the Falls. Toronto was good we went to the CN Tower and saw a Blue Jays match. We stayed at a hotel which joined on to the main baseball stadium. We had a window which opened straight on the main pitch. A bit cheesy but the kids loved it! |

Toronto is a wonderful city and if it's cold and wet, there's a complete underground network of streets and shops! We stayed on the harbour front looking over the water; there are several hotels - we were at the Radisson Admiral which was lovely for breakfast with great views over the harbour area and very big bedrooms - plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby for evenings. You can take a short ferry ride over to 'the island' which has beaches and parks and can hire bikes to ride around it. We booked our trip to Niagara for the day at a harbour kiosk and had a great day, including Niagara-on-the-lake a chocolate box little town worth a wander around an afternoon tea in one of the tea rooms - a bit like the Cotswolds. Anyway, loved Toronto (and Montreal and Vancouver) - like USA cities without the 'edge' Enjoy J x |

We went to Canada last July and Toronto was my fav. City. Your daughter will love it as it's very young and there's a bit of a 'Brighton' vibe going on... the pubs are like ours except if you have a bar meal you get very friendly and efficient waiter service. We didn't see any ice hocky but did go to a baseball match at the big stadium under the CNN tower (well worth a visit) and that was fab. The best thing we did though was a boat trip around the islands - really fun. Niagara is amazing- v. crowded when I went though. |

Hi Fofo I was there in June this year. Fabulous holiday. If you can try and go to the town of Niagara on the Lake. Its about 30 mins drive / bus journey from Niagara Falls itself and its so worth a visit. Beautiful quaint shops and town. We found Niagara Falls very touristy but really enjoyed the whole trip. Toronto is a lovely city. You will have a wonderful holiday enjoy. |

Lucky you! We were in Michigan last year, and drove over to Niagara to show the kids; agree with everyone re canadian side. We also went out of town a bit to the Niagara rapids, which is worth doing: there is a crazy victorian cable car that goes over, and also you can walk right down to level with the rapids and just appreciate the power. We had a meal in the Hard Rock Cafe, which we thought would be an extreme rip off but we had a really good meal and service. The kids enjoyed it. Maid of the Mist is amazing..we went latish in the day and didn't have to queue. We stayed at St Catherines, and also like Niagara on the Lake...like stepping back in time. The park and ride facilities at Niagara were very good, as you'd expect. |

Visit the CN tower on a sunny day - it's really worth waiting for another day if it's overcast - and make sure you stand on the glass section! There are some lovely little towns on the lake that are worth a visit when you're driving between the two (try lunch in a pub that brews it's own beer). |
