Supper Clubs

Hi
Anyone out there planning a supper club evening during the next couple of weeks? Please let us know -- we'd like to find out more about your evening!

Hi Hazel |I am having a supper club evening this weekend and just awaiting replies from two people in the Reading area. I have sorted the menu this being my turn to cook as three of my friends and I have been doing this for a year, amazing how well we have now got partners trained in looking after the kids etc and it is great for my as a 40 something widow as I know at least once a month I have something nice to do I have read the comments anout phone nos and taken note as I am exdirectory I would not post mine on line anyway, so have however put the office no there because we feel this is reasonabley safe for me to do (we being the company director and myself, I am the company secretary). Right have planned the menu (goats cheese with sweet chilly dressing, morrocan lamb with cous cous and chargrilled vegatables and marangue with apricot cooley and toffee sauce, now you know my job for tonight yes the marangue. At least if it goes wrong I have time to do another. Wish us luck ps love the magazine I can remember reading it to my mum who was bling when it first came out and have tried other bt always end up going back to the most sensible womens magazine that doesn't force feed me as a childless women with babies all the time thanks

Hazel, I only read about the supper clubs a couple of months ago and posted a notice on the message board to ask who might be interested in the Hertfordshire area. We have had over 400 visitors to the message board and about 7 of us have agreed to meet up. We are having our first supper on 21 October. A couple of the women thought it would be a good idea to get an article in the local paper so that if more local women were interested in joining the 'club' they could get in touch. Do you have any suggestions as to the best way to go about this? Any advice would be welcome.

Hi, I am new to all of this but would be interested in hearing about a supper club in Manchester that meets during the week. I work in Manchester staying there Mon-Fri. Hi Hazel, Thought you might like to know that the Hartlebury(between Worcester and Kidderminster)supperclub is up and running and furthermore we did a live radio interview with BBC Hereford &Worcs. publising the supperclub and inviting new members and of course mentioning Woman & Home.

I would have loved to meet you at the Old Barn Garden Centre but unfortunately I cannot drive and I live in Rustington/Littlehampton. I have arranged to meet another lady who also posted on the forum and we are meeting in The Lamb, Rustington on Thursday 4th May at twelvish. Don't know how far that is from The garden centre but you are welcome to join us.

Scotland calling!

The 'Edinburgh Supper Club' are meeting next on 22nd February for a meal out in the evening.

The 'East Coast get to know you Fun Club' are travelling to Edinburgh on 1st March to see a show in the afternoon and then have a meal in the early evening.

If you'd like to join in either - or both! - you'll be very welcome; don't hesitate, just sing out!

I suggest an initial eat out for us all to meet perhaps in Wokingham area if that is where the majority of us are based. There appear to be around five ladies interested so that's a good start and nice number for us all to get to know each other

Anyone interested in starting a Supper Club in STIRLING. I'm quite new to the area and find that if you don't have youngish children it's difficult to meet new people. Mine are all grown up (or sometimes not). Also I care for a member of my family and it's well known how isolated carers can become. Would love to hear from people around here.

This month we are having a lunchtime meet as some people expressed interest in that - see Supper Club board - it's 10th April Thurs at noon.

I'm organising the next Edinburgh Supper Club meeting. Its on Friday 16 May at Guillianos in Union Place (Leith Walk) opposite the Playhouse. The table is booked for 7.30pm under the name of Craig. Hi, we've started one in Hampton recently (and surrounding areas!). Meeting again soon, next one is in Thames Ditton. I know there's another one in Surbiton and nearby too. If you look through the forum Sealover has put together a list of supper clubs.

Welcome to the forum.

This thread doesnt get as much traffic and seems to be more for information, if you look back there are lot's of querries like this with few replies. In the first instance check out the supper club list to see if there is one in your area and contact the person who runs it and post a new thread asking if there is one in your area. Maybe you could get a few ladies together and start one.

Cuppa and Cake group in our own areas

Why don't we start a cuppa and cake group in our own areas. I will volunteer to start one in my area- Ayr in Ayrshire, S.W. Scotland. Take turns to host..Just bring a lively mind and a smile.It would be great for those of us who don't work.I am retired but all ages and travellers would be welcome. I also posted this under Food and Home and have had 19 replys from many places, with others keen on the idea.Lets do it.

Hello psyche.I came to a very early meeting but hadn't mastered this magic machine then so never heard any more from anyone { I use the term ' mastered ' Very loosely you understand!! Sent my first e.mails last week and am enjoying the forums but would really to join the club.Problem is I don't drive so could only come to meetings in the city or fairly close by-would that work?look forward to hearing from you.

looking for any one in fareham hampshire, new to this been in the area for a year left my long time friends in london and to be honest need a couple of coffee friends the supper club sounds great use to go with friend in london on nights out as i am in my 50is not keen on to young places but will have a go at any thing going. iam married and a bit of a golf widow some times. any one in and around my area can drive am avril.

Good to hear from you. Yes there will be a supper club starting in Berkhamsted/Tring there are already two of us and if you come that's three and I have another Berko friend to ask on Tuesday that's four and I responded to two other women on this forum one in Amersham, the other in south Bucks so I think we can run with it.

I saw that there was a supper club in St Albans-there was a recent posting on the message board about them meeting later in November. Just thought I'd point this out as Berko is a bit of a way. I'll co-ordinate the first date with you and my friend and we'll go from there. Let me know what day is good for you this month to begin with.

Got any mates who want to come along?

I had one response from a lady in Berkhamstead and she has had a response from 3 or 4 others and is trying to organise a dinner late in November.I would be more than happy for you to come along too if you would like.
There is apparently a group that meets in St. Albans however have not been able to find that one yet have you?
