Subscription renewal

Just wanted to have a bit of a moan about subscription rates for W&H - I have just received a renewal letter offering me another year's subscription 'at a preferential rate' if I renew by direct debit - a year for £26.52, which is 35% off the cover price. However, if I take out a subscription online as a new subscriber, it's only £20.56. Or, if I take up the new subscriber offer in this month's magazine, for £29.99 I get 12 months AND an Elemis gift (apparently)worth £48. I have emailed IPC subscriptions to say how unfair I think it is that the rates for loyal subscribers are higher, but I got only a fairly standard reply back saying that the lower price is to 'encourage new subscribers' and is not available for renewals, and it assures me that it's a very good price - which is hardly the point! I have just renewed a subscription to another mag at the same rate as last year, and I get a massive 66% off the cover price, fixed for 2 years - why can't W&H do this? It hardly encourages loyalty. Is there anything to stop me just taking out a new subscription when my current one ends? Does anyone else feel strongly about this or I am being unreasonable?

Hi Anne, yes, when I was due to renew my subscription, I phoned them up and told them I wanted to cancell it first, so I could get the Elemis freebe, and they were ok about it, I think that some girls may have had problems doing this tho. A thought tho, do you shop at Tesco? if you collect their money off vouchers, you can get the mag for less than £10, thats what I am going to do next time round. I got that bit of info from one of the forum girls, a great tip!

W&H this is no way to treat those loyal ladies
Triple freebies for them I say is the least you can do
Get on down to Tesco's and spend and then gain enough vouchers to exchange for a whole years worth of W&H magazine for

Having emailed IPC subs again, I got a reply from them saying 'We can confirm that you can leave your current subscription to expire and set up a new subscription under the promotional offer you have seen.' So that kind of makes it offical, don't you think - no point in renewing when you can get it so much cheaper as a new subscriber. I didn't have a direct debit anyway, in fact one year I did set one up but they lost it!!
Thanks for the tip about Tesco vouchers - that really is a bargain. I have a stash of Clubcard vouchers so that sounds like the best option!

what are these Tesco vouchers? I've only ever been offered Computers for Schools ones. I hardly ever shop there - maybe that's why I haven't rec'd the info??

Hi MariaE.
You need to have a Tesco club/reward card which gives you points every time you use it when shopping at Tesco in store and on line in their web store.
These points then get transfered into vouchers which are sent out to you, every couple of months or so, to your home address. The value of these vouchers depends on the amount you spend using the reward card.
It soon adds up if you are like me. My weekly shop is easily over £100 and I get things from their on line stores as well and often they have double or triple points offers on many of their items
