Face Primers

Hi guys
I would like to purchase a Face primer as i have heard they are really good.
Obviously if I go to a store each company will say that theirs is the best!
So I thought I would ask you good people!
Could you please recommend one for me?
Thanks
Tanya

Re: Face Primers

Read in a mag that the best face primer is Lanacane Anti-chafing gel!

Re: Face Primers

Is that what you use before the undercoat and the topcoat?

Re: Face Primers

I just luurrve Estee Lauder Perfectionist Serum. Check out Clarins too as I have never been disappointed with any of their products. It's always worth asking for a trial sample.
Let us know what you end up with.

Re: Face Primers

Bobbie Brown's book is being serialised in the Sunday Times and she doesn't recommend them, she's never seen any benefits.

I must be honest I've never tried them though!?!

Re: Face Primers

a primer is the undercoat Suzie...
I like Philosophy the Supernatural which is tinted & has a spf 15 too, I like this one because it can be used on its own or under foundation. Smashbox has a good one too Photo Finish, they both feel the same to me, its the silicone, nice feel, makes your skin feel lovely & smooth.

Re: Face Primers

Clarins have a lovely one, Velvety smooth. Can't think what it's called at the mo., but ask for a sample at the clarins counter.

Re: Face Primers

I have only started using one in the last 6 months or so. Although I don't think a primer is essential it glides onto the skin and does seem to provide a smoother base for make up and gives it more staying power. As citygirl said, Smashbox have one called Photofinish, which goes on clear with a silky texture and you only need the tiniest amount. (You can buy Smashbox from QVC, by the way).

Re: Face Primers

I bought the one by Boots No 7 - waste of money, IMHO

Re: Face Primers

i dont use a primer as such but i do use Boots No7 High Lights Illuminating lotion under my make up, it's a pink liquid which is very slightly sparkly, makes your skin glow under your make up. It's about £10 i think. It's not too sparkly so you can use it every day, my make up looks so much better when i use it as it acts as a base. Good for tired grey winter skin !

Re: Face Primers

I like the Smashbox one.
They do one with SPF15 as well as the regular one. I find it does make a difference to how make up looks & lasts.

Re: Face Primers

Hi Tanya

I've just started using the Lancome one. I think my foundation does go on smoother, but I'm having a mid life skin crisis at the moment & suffering with spots & cold sores so it's a bit difficult to tell. Finally off to the doc's with it today, so hopefully once it's all cleared up I'll have a better idea. My skin does feel lovely & smooth when it's on though.

Re: Face Primers

Hi, I use Laura Geller's Face Spackle and Eye Spackle....both from QVC and both very good. The pots are quite small but lasts forever.

I use Smashbox and find it really does make the make-up look that bit better.

Re: Face Primers

Well just an update
First of all everyone thanks for all your advice as usual this forum has come up trumps!
I went into town today and got a sample of Lancome Face base and as it was on special offer instead of getting a sample I bought Estee Lauder Matte Primer.
I was told i could bring it back if I had a reaction.
Both look fabulous!
Thanks again everyone!
Tanya

Re: Face Primers

Watching QVC at the moment and they are showing 60 ml of smashbox face primer for £29.98 instead of the usual price of £23.00 for the 30 ml size. Bargain!

I don't regularly bother to use one, but, when I do, I like Laura Mercier best.

Re: Face Primers

Further update!!!
I dont like the Lancome one (the smell mainly) but it was a sample so no problem their!
I am totally loving the Estee Lauder one and it makes my skin feel like silk
My makeup is staying on longer too.
I am really glad I invested in this!

Re: Face Primers

Any more recommendations?

I fancy buying one, so am going to ask for a couple of samples.

Had a Clarins sample, but not too impressed. Estee LAuder sounds good, but when I tried her foundation it brought me out in a rash. Might ask for a sample.
