Spray fake tans-any good?

I am off to Goa in a few weeks and am thinking of getting a fake tan so i don't look as if i have been dipped in flour.
Has anyone had a spray one? If so, are they any good or do they end up streaky?
Gone are the days of lying in the sun as a teenager covered in oil and vinegar!!!!!

Re: Spray fake tans-any good?

I've had a couple of St Tropez spray tans and found them excellent. Have the spray tan the day before you leave/or your event - then do not wash off that day, even if you're panicking about streaks or face freckles. Shower the next morning and you should see good results! I always exfoliate prior to the spray tan and apply moisturiser to my elbows, knees, back of ankles, top of feet. Hope of some help. Good luck!

Re: Spray fake tans-any good?

Hi Seashell.Lucky you off to Goa,I hope you have a fab time. However,in my opinion unless you want to look like Donatella Versace on the beach, aviod the spray tan. They come out very dark and streaky in my opinion. Some of my friends have had very bad experiences also. They seem to show up every tiny blemish on your skin amd magnify it.If you do get one, give yourself 48hrs to let it calm down.Personally I would go for a good quality mousse or cream.I use St.Tropez and it never streaks.Use a mitt when applying (Bodyshop do one),and exfoliate and moisturise all over before applying.Preferably a day before applying.Good luck,I'm sure you'll look great whatever you decide.Oopsi.

Re: Spray fake tans-any good?

Just realisd didn't say that I have had spray tans a few times...they were all disasterous. The last time I was going to a wedding and only for it was a really good friends wedding, there is NO WAY I would have gone out in public. My friend and I had gone to the same place for the spray tan,but we returned the next day and got our money back..I looked like a child had tried to colour me in with Ronseal! Not a good look, swore I would never do it again.Oopsi.

Had loads all with excellent results !!!! So guess it depends where you have it done and what your skin likes ... I use moisturiser with a little tan in it all year round and I certainly do not look like Donetella Versace!!!
Go for it Girl ....You will look fabulous!
Have a great time!

Hi Seashell,

I have had spray tans that worked very well. you can really fine tune the colour. If you live in Kent I will recommend someone who comes to your home and really is very good. Send me a pm if you would like the details.

Re: Spray fake tans-any good?

Thank you for all your responses. Sorry, Oopsie but you did make me laugh when you mentioned the Ronseal. I think i will have a go with the moisturiser with a hint of tan and see what that looks like. Thanks again.

Re: Spray fake tans-any good?

I used Nivea 'sunkissed skin' last year. Skin felt good but I didn't see much of a colour effect. Also it 'collected' in creases(arms) and then rubbed off.! I would use it as a moisturiser again but not for 'tanning'. have a super time in Goa Seashell. Am really envious! Would never get OH to go there though!!
BTW......are we having another Stratford lunch this/next Month?

Re: Spray fake tans-any good?

Hi Seashell,

I too, have had several fake tans sprayed on, usually St Tropez. Complete exfoliation the night before but no moisturiser - the person spraying it on should give you all the info beforehand. You need to leave it on, untouched, for about 8 hours and then shower residue off. Always very successful and pre-holiday, fabulous. Much more confident with a tan!
