Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream....

I was given a pot of this for Christmas...
It looks lovely in it's 1950's retro pot! But it's very odd stuff and not at all what i had envisaged.
It's very thick and 'gloopy'....quite heavy on your skin.
Does anyone have any experience of using it? How often is it supposed to be used? It seems quite heavy to use on a daily basis so I assume it's an as and when kind of cream....
I would welcome your views on it's use and effects!!!

I know what you mean Cuppy,I tried it at the airport 1 year and was quite shocked. Its a funny orangey/beige colour and quite gloopy - had expected it to be white and creamy! Think yo just use it on dry bits all over and when your skin is very dehydrated.

I know what you mean! I had a free sample of the 8 hour body cream that I decided to try the other day and it had a real medicinal smell to it which put me off a bit. Guess it might me good for 'emergency' use - dry, sore skin maybe - but not really a pampering cream!

I love it!
use it on your hands when they are really dry.
It's wonderful on cuts and grazes, and hangnails. Use every coupke of hours. and they heal really quickly. Or overnight.
Great on dry skin on feet
And elbows
Use on sunburn
Or a a facemask
Heals chapped lips, and also a great lip balm
It's not a cfream - it's magic in a pot

I used it on my face overnight...
I didn't dare to turn off my back in case I ruined the pillowcases with the stickiness of it!
Have to say I still looked exactly the same in the morning...and what a disappointment THAT was!

Cuppy, I use it by mixing it with my moisterser only a tiny dot needed, and i use it on my face, especially in the winter. when it is very dry.

When I first bought it I thought it had gone off, it was so sticky and smelt funny. Now I use it between my tootsies.

Elizabeth Arden also does an 8 hour lip balm. My sister works as airline cabin crew and gets very dry skin because of the atmosphere she is in all day. She swears by it!

I've used this stuff for over 30 years.
The first time I bought any, at a frightfully posh department store now long closed down in Bradford, there was a hunky, rugged-looking man in front of me buying 6 tubes. I couldn't resist asking him why he needed so many, and he said he was a mountaineer. All his fellow climbers used it apparently as it's so good for lubricating the skin and keeping severe weather damage at bay.
It is very thick and does not smell like a 'cosmetic' but I think it's pure lanolin(?? might be wrong about that). I use it on my lips, on hangnails and also once on a scald (from my steam iron) where it worked miracles.

I prefer good old vaseline
It doesnt smell so bad and does a great job!

I use it as an ointment really - I took it with me to ASustralia- it was excellant for dry skin and sunburn.

Brandyqueen thanks for the tip about mixing a dot in with your normal moisturiser. I used it this weekend and it's done wonders for my skin.

I used my this very morning on dry lips. Also use the 8 hour hand cream that too is brilliant.
