Winter lip balm
|
|
My lips are drying out. I've tried Eight Hour Creme, vaseline, lipsaver solid sticks, olive oil and a balm from Spain (Perfumeria Gal). They're OK-ish, but haven't really tackled the discomfort and rough feeling on my lips.
What do you use?

I use Clarins lap balm/repair stuff in the tube when my are really dry and it seems to solve it quite efficiently! Not in the £1.99 price bracket but last for ages. I used that when they are relly bad and any old cheapy in between.

Balms & chapsticks are very moreish, e.g. we like to lick them off especially if they are flavoured. I know its not a balm but I use Cymex cream, a little goes a long way & my lips are never dry now. Its for cracked lips & cold sores but it really is good for everyday use in the winter.

I use the Clarins too, not cheap but very good, and they'll often throw in some freebies too when you buy it.

Cowleygirl,another vaseline user...have tried Elizabeth
Arden's Eight hour cream,also Clarins...but none worked for
me as well as vaseline.

I've bought the large tin of L'Occitane 100% Shea Butter. It feels very comfortable and soothing so far, and compares very favorably with the Estee Lauder/Clinique offerings. And loads more in the pot!!

I use Bobbi Brown lip balm. It is like a wax and I put BB lip butter lipstick over the top and my lips feel really comfortable.

I use Gayle Hyman, lip balm available from QVC, it leaves the rest standing by miles!

I can thoroughly recommend Molton Brown Vitamin E lipsaver.Not cheap but lasts forever. It doesn't contain lanolin like some of the others. Worth trying

I have just found Vaseline for lips with rose oil..good pink colour too. I didn't know they made one!

Calendula cream (nelsons, get it in boots) - nips a bit if your lips are cracked but heals them really fast, and then keeps them from getting sore again. Worked a treat on the girls when they were wee and out playing all the time

I used to wear Clinique Buttershine lipstick, and that really worked but it didn;t have an SPF. Now they have a great long last lip gloss with an SPF, and that works, even on the golf course

I like Clarins and Bobbi Brown too, but my absolute favourite is Baume de Rose from By Terry, available in Space NK. Hint of delicious rose flavour, SPF 15,great applicator and lasts well.
My husband gave me some (with a little prompting) for Christmas last year and think I might suggest it again this!

BrandyQ, Im a Gale Hayman lip lift fan too, Im never without it, but e-bay is much cheaper than QVC.

Although not strictly a lip balm as such, I have always found Blistex to be brilliant - cheap and cheerful. I am allergic to a lot of the lip gels and balms which often make the matter worse.
