Hi Whitleybay, I'm more of a Principles/Wallis person now but must admit that Principles has gone a bit pricey. Also I use Debenhams a lot as they have a lot of choice as they have different departments. I find M&S' quality is not as good as it was and the sizes are a lot smaller!

I don't have a lot of time to go shopping, so NEXT catalogue is a godsend for me. Everything for me and the kids comes from there.

Re: If not M+S then where?

I have found I have become a wandering shopper. I like Monsoon but it is a bit "young" I have just got a Boden catalogue and like their tops.I did buy a Nicole Farhi top, but it was in the sale!Maybe I should take up dressmaking and buy a sewing machine.

Re: If not M+S then where?

I do buy some things from M & S, also use Wallis, Principles, River Island, Next, Oasis, H and M, etc, and lots more online, but I also get things in supermarkets like Sainsburys Tesco and Asda depending on what I am buying.

80% of my clothes come from Next. Used to be Per Una when I worked but not so much now. More relaxed clothing!! For special occasion clothes I go to Monsoon, Wallis, Principle etc.

Yes I have to say that 80% of my clothes come from next. They had a wicked VIP on line sale a couple of months ago, (if you are an online customer you get to the sale items before Joe public, if they send you a VIP)...I had a wonderful time shopping, booked my slot, and I was on line for hours and hours.
Ended up ordering over £2,000.00 of clothes, the parcels kept arriving and arriving and arriving....phew exhausting stuff......

Re: If not M+S then where?

Just out of curiosity was that £2,000.00 worth of stuff pre sale price or you actually bought £2,000.00 worth. Sorry that's really nosey but I have asked the question now.

Secret, I cannot ever imagine having £2000 to spend on clothes, but good luck to you......can't imagine wanting that much stuff either, but hey, i could try, given the cash!

Re: If not M+S then where?

Well I spent £1.50 for a double string of pearls in Primark - last of the big spenders! Still a great fan of Zara and Principles. Since George stopped designing Per Una, it has got a bit stale and predictable. Loved the original Next - have still got one of two things I bought from them way back in the 80s.

I'm lucky have a friend who owns a dress shop so can find different things and if I like a make can mix and match the items. Get work clothes from M&S. Problem where I live is finding decent shoes so have a good look around whenever we go to Manchester or Newcastle.

Hi everyone,
having read your replies to my post I feel awful having put that ....it sounds as if I was bragging about money, which honestly I wasn't, I just thought everybody shopped like that. I wish I did have loads of money, I am as poor as a church mouse...
Anyway, perhaps I should arrange one of those clothes swapping parties that seem to be all the rage at the moment.

Re: If not M+S then where?

Gilley, I can sew... perhaps between us we can do a deal with Secret but bet she's a really teeny weeny size!
I spent yesterday evening trying to find a dress on ebay. I need a day dress to wear to a wedding next month but couldn't find anything I really liked that was appropriate. I found plenty that I'd have loved to buy that weren't for a special 'do'! I don't buy from M&S anymore but haven't really got a preference for anywhere else. I've picked up some brand new bargains from ebay recently but I shop anywhere from Asda to Jaegar (factory outlet not full price!).

blimey Secret! R.E.S.P.E.C.T! you must have nerves of steel and a firm grip on your conscience that was some spending spree. In answer to the original question I like Boden and Phase Eight. I haqve the occasional foray into Basler but only in the sale and mostly for work clothes

OK girls, come on what size are you ?
I am a 12 in jeans, but have to wear a 14 top, cos I have the misfortune of being a 36DD...........I would love to be a 34C.
I have just given away about 6 black bags full of clothes, (most of them I had not worn)........would happily send my next lot onto anyone who wants them

Re: If not M+S then where?

Hi, I do all of my shopping online now because I can't be bothered with the hassle of traffic and trying to find a parking space! For clothes I use Bodens - pricey but you get what you pay for I find. For underwear I use Clara-Olivia Lingerie as they stock Fantasie, Freya and Panache which again are the best brands really for well fitting underwear. Gorgeous colours and styles and they change their stock frequently so there's always something to tempt you. Actually I've just bought a gorgeous set called Arabella. For costume jewellery I use Wallis as I find their jewellery is really nice. Hope that helps Steph X
