Help - Style Consultations - Good or Bad Pressy?

I wonder if anyone out there can help? I have a very good friend approaching the big 60 and was wondering what to buy her. The thought of a style/colour consultation crossed my mind. She would be first to admit she is in a rut with clothes, but doesn't have the confidence to try anything different. What's your experience of them? Are they worth it? Would she hate me, thinking I think she has no style? Any help would be much appreciated - I know there are so many stylish ladies out there!

I bought a colour consultation for my sister for her birthday. She took a friend with her and they really enjoyed the experience.

I think it would be a lovely gift for your friend.

I had a colour consultation done quite a few years ago and I loved it.I think your friend would be thrilled to be given such a different present. It acknowledges that she isn't "past it"and is worth bothering about.

I agree, much more interesting than a gift to unwrap and something that you can carry through life too and it may be a real boost that she isnt even aware she needs!

I would love it.

On the subject of presents, I( it was my friend's suggestion)
bought, for someone's 40th( female) a good set of designer hair brushes, and designer hair products to make up the package.
She loved it, and said it was because noone ever buys a whole set of good matching ones for themselves...we end up with cheap ones for years.

Agree that colour me beautiful is good. I spent years in black and navy only to discover they do nothing for me and now I know what colours are good for me I can see the problem! Never had a style consultation as figure old age (well 50ish if that counts) has done the job for me as I now have a pretty good idea of what suits and what doesn't. Shame I didn't know that years ago though!

I would agree with giving a colour consultation, I had one years ago and it was so useful. I am considering having another one now I'm older and hair and skin tone have lightened.

I think a style/colour consultation sounds like a lovely idea. I would be delighted if someone bought one for me.

As long as you are sure that this would be the sort of gift she would want. I would absolutley hate this as a gift, but that's just me and my friends would know it's not my sort of thing ( I think LOL)

What about arranging a personal shopper at John Lewis or Debenhams both are free and giving her vouchers for the clothes they help her to choose
That way she gets help out of her rut and not just colour advice but a new piece of clothing to start her off

Hiall,

I had my colours done some time ago and was given a little wallet with swatches of all the colours I should wear, but each time I go shopping I forget it and it remains at the back of a drawer. Also the woman who did it kept phoning me and trying to get me to book a consultation for something else and I had to be quite rude in the end to get rid of her.
It definitely helps knowing what suits you and what doesn`t for instance I can`t wear black near my face but can wear charcoal or chocolate brown. It has saved me money in the long run so I recommend it.

I had a colour consultation many moons ago, and also via a friend, learned a little about body shapes and styles, your right that it saves money , not as many mistakes made, hair colour/ or not , etc I think it would be a great present, do let us know her reaction if you decide to go ahead with it.

I would love to receive this as a present - I wouldn't feel at all insulted.
