Under eye concealers

hi all
Does anyone else have problems with dark circles under their eyes, and if so which concealer could you not live without?
Ive tried the famous YSL one, it was OK but not the miracle it's claimed to be; the Clinique airbrush which I used twice as it was hopeless, plus countless others over the years. I am currently on Models Prefer off QVC which is probably the best so far. Any recommendations greatly received!!

The YSL one (which I have just run out of and feel quite gross without it) has always been the best for me but I have found that it works better on top of another product, so you use something to hide the main problem and then add a bit of that on top to then highlight it lighter.
For example my whole face would be covered in foundation and then I would add that on top in the darker or problem areas and always under my eyes.

Yes I have dark circles along with a bit of puffiness too. I have not found anything yet myself which really helps to disguise the circles or take away the puffiness for long.

Hi Mazzi,
I had dark and puffy eyes, and then earlier on this year I had to go on steroids for an illness and I had too drink loads of water with the tablets, and I noticed my eyes were a lot better. I have kept on drinking the water 6 glasses a day and they are definitely better, I still use YSL but I think water is the answer and its free.

I have just disjcovered Bobbi Brown
I read it in a magazine first then went and tried and bought. First they have a corrector and then they have a concealer - they are brilliant.
Find you nearest store and get them to try them on you, thats what I did in John Lewis
one is orangey based and one pinky based so together they work well, and believe me I have been looking for a long time and hated having white panda eyes with a lot of concealers, now I see why so many mags mentioned them.

I found the YSL one too light, either under or over foundation. My new fave is one from M&S, not perfect, but gets rid of the really cream crackered look!

Mazzi,
Couldnt agree with you more about the Touche Eclait eye concealer, I dont think it is all what it is supposed to me.
I now use one from Benefit and it is called Your Bluffing,
I really like it, its not cheap but last for a long time.

I have NEVER tested this, but I have read that the best thing for puffy dark circles under the eyes, is haemorroid cream!
Is anyone willing to test it, 'cos I'm nuber one coward and don't fancy asking for it in the chemist even!

Kate,
I was watching an interview once with Stephanie Beacham, and she said that it was one of the best creams she had ever used, its all psycological isnt it, because we know where it should be administered the appeal disappears.

From what I understand the haemorrhoid cream gets rid of any puffiness from under the eye, but not the dark circle, which probably makes sense. Although I haven't tried it (well not under my eyes anyway)!

yeah probably because it has some anti-inflammatory ingredients and so any swelling will go down, bum or eyes!
I have started getting something under my eyes but they have never been puffy (if they were I would use some prep-H!)
in France they do 3 colour shades of the YSL not just the light one I used to get in the UK so if you have darker toned skin you can go for a 2 or 3, makes no difference cos I still need the lightest!

I use No 7 as well and have found it good. I then use their concealer on top, and if time, foundation on top of that!

Well I've tried loads of different concealers, agree YSL is too light and I always go back to Max Factor Erase, they have made it for years, I find I can apply it quite thickly then pat it in it lasts really well, there is a mention on the link below or if you google Max Factor Erase U.K. there is a lot of info.

I use Sheercover. Put the concealer under the eye then the mineral foundation over the top. Works well for me. I also agree with Freya, the last couple of months I have managed to drink 6-8 glasses of water a day and every thing has improved, my eyes and my skin. I am sure my water bill will go up though with all those trips to the loo!!

Hi Mazzi,
The best concealer I have found is Prescriptives Flawless skin total protection concealer. It is so good sometimes I don't bother with foundation and get away with mascara and lipgloss. It also has an SPF of 25. I found the YSL too weak too and it smells when it goes off!

Thanks soooo much for all your help - If I only find a decent concealer it will have been worth joining the forum!!! I'm going to the Trafford Centre tomorrow so think I'm going to have a go with the Bobby Brown inbetween shopping for a christening outfit - oh my poor hubby lol !!!
Would never have thought of trying No 7 so thanks for that too, also tried the Barbara Daly one for Tesco all the black came of the tube and ended up all over my hands so defo not a good look !!

I used the No 7 one for years but recently I have been noticing that my eye area is very sore and itchy after using it. I left it and used a Rimmel one and hey presto ...no irritation.So I have just sent the No.7 concealers back to Boots. I was told that they were made in the same factory as the YSL and allegedly came from the same vat.This is interesting as I know that some people have this problem with the YSL concealers. Coincidence? Anybody else have any problems with No.7 ?

I haven't had any problems with No 7 yet, but its interesting that you say its made in the same factory, as the packaging is identical and I was wondering about that. No 7 is much cheaper though!

I tried YSL and it made my skin go red and scaly - definitely not a good look! I now use Collection 2000 Illuminating Touch. It does the job and costs about 3 quid.

after trying them all - Chanel, YSL right down to Rimmel - the only one that works for me is Bobbi Brown. Go to the counter, ask them to use them on you. Dark circles just disappear. As someone said earlier you use two, but htey work. Not cheap but they save money cos I'm no longer throwing ones that don't work in the bin!
