Trying a new hairdresser tomorrow

Over the years I've tried every salon in my town - some I've been to only once, others I've gone to for years and then suddenly been left in the lurch when my usual stylist has left. I now have just one place left to try - it really is the "last chance salo(o)n!!
I have asked for an appointment with a senior stylist, so all my fingers and toes are crossed. I would really like to have my medium-length bob style cut much shorter with more layers and a bit more "oooomph". I will make a snap decision on how much I ask to be taken off, depending on the first impression I get of my stylist.....I really hope it isn't going to be "just another trim"!!

hi do let us know how you get on.
I have been going to my haidresser for years ,am due to go this Thurdsay and cant decide whether to go darker with ful head colour or gradually do it , descions ,no doubt Thursay will be the day of descion.lol

My son is a barber and still find's it amazing when a client who is obviously bald on top asking for a trim all over.
The hair on the top of the head has been grown from the sides long enough to wrap around the top and then liberally sprayed with laquer!
When uncurled it is so long{think of a gonk } and has so much spray on it he has gone through many combs!

Well ladies, I would give today's hairdresser 6/10.
The salon was located at the 'rougher' end of town and the interior was in a bit of a time warp, but the welcome was friendly.
I was one of only two customers at the time, but I was still kept waiting a few minutes. My stylist was pleasant enough if a little brusque at first, firing all the "how much do you want off?" and "what side is your parting?" type questions at me. I also hate to say that I detected a waft of cigarette smoke about her. I had hoped to ask for some constructive advice but I felt put off, so at this point I just thought what the hell and asked for one inch to be trimmed from the length and for my fringe to be tidied.
I was however pleased with the cut and blow-dry, my stylist stayed with me the whole time, there was none of the going off to answer phones/change the CD/have a chat with a colleague that I have experienced at other salons. The background music was also set at a comfortable level, no having to shout to be heard above the din.
I paid £30.50, which is about average in my town, and she looked genuinely pleased and surprised when I gave her a cash tip. All in all a better experience than my last visit to a salon, but I don't think I will be returning to this one again. The hunt continues....
