hairdressers advice please about a fringe

i am debating weather or not to have a fringe cut, i have grown my hair to a bob, it is very thick and about chin length but i always have to pin or clip back some hair to keep it off my face.

the problem is that i have an old fashioned cows lick, i would really like a full fringe and tidy up the bob to make it a little smarter, ( like catherine zeta jones in Chicago)

The cows lick is on the side, if i had a full fringe from a centre parting would my fringe stay closed and not look like an open pair of curtains?

Decisions decisions . . . .

any advice would be welcomed

I would imagine with the natural kink in your cows lick it would open...maybe if you use staighteners on it it might stay put...

I have a full fringe and a cow lick and sometimes my hair does part, however I have a side parting so isn't always so noticeable maybe you could try a side parting, and I always use staighterners they do work but use a good heat spray too.It will help protect your hair.

Now in my mid-fifties,I was discussing hairstyles with my hairdresser, who made the suggestion that at my age "Bobs" with a side parting create a softer look. So we tried it on the left, and there was a 'cows lick' so we tried it on the right and low and behold, there was another one.

My style is still a 'Bob'but the side parting only comes to just before my hairline, where I now have a full but feathered fringe to reduce the heaviness.

What I don't understand is how at my age,I nor anyone else has noticed the cow's licks before.!!!!

Oh don't talk to me about cows licks - I have one and hate it!
It's not so bad now as I make sure my fringe is quite long and heavy but if i get a scissor happy hairdresser going too mad on it, back it comes for all to see!

When I was young, in a bid to save money, my mum had my fringe cut soooo short, so I wouldn't have to keep going back. Well my school photos are just hideous, with a short fringe and cows lick to boot!

I also have a widows peak (how greedy am I!) so I can't have my hair on the side, even if I wanted to.

So my only advice would be keep your fringe as long and heavy as you can.

Bluebella, who used to even try putting sellotape on it!

I like tresseme heat defence spray. I also use pantene spray and leave in conditioner which I spray in at night ususally about once a week it doesn't leave your hair feeling or looking greasy either
