Patchy eyebrows!!
|
|
Hi everyone!
Just a light-hearted wonder?
Does anyone else pluck their "grey ones" out of their eyebrows only to end up with holes as you plucked the wrong one and end up looking more "post op" than sleek and racy?!
I couldn't see them until I got reading glasses recently!

Ooooh, yes! Drives me crazy! Have to 'colour in' with an eyebrow pencil.. And to make matters worse, although the hair on my head is as straight as it could be, my eyebrows are wavy! What is THAT all about????????

Hi TT Have you thought about having your eyebrows professionally shaped and then dyed? This would give you beautiful brows with no grey ones.

Hi expatK I hate to say this, but I think it an age thing!! Eyebrows either seem to go AWOL, grey or strong and wavy. I think there was a previous thread on eyebrow taming with lots of advice.
I can sympathise with you both - yet another body part to be sorted out!! The list goes on ..............

Didn't know you could have such things done! I think money was no object I would be a permanent fixture at the beauty salon and Harley Street!
I like the Eleanor Roosevelt quote - I am sure I have seen other quotes from her - quite a lady - I bet their is a good autobiography out there somewhere about her. Will have to look.

Hi TT With money, anything can be fixed! Look at Anne Robinson's trout pout for example. Although I don't like her as a person, I always admired her as an intelligent woman, but now I'm not so sure.
Good idea about Eleanor Roosevelt biography, I'll have a look too. It sounds like the sort of book to take on holiday.

My newly acquired stragglers are white and poker straight -not a good look! My eyebrows are disappearing so rapidly that I'm scared to pluck my white ones and like expatK, colour mine in instead! If anyone is interested, I bought some stuff called Talika Eyebrow Lipocils, which is meant to restore eyebrow growth and it really does work...but I keep forgetting to put the flipping stuff on!!

I have my eyebrows threaded - it creates a very strong line - well as strong as my fine and thin hair permits. Then I fill in with very sharp eye pencil doing downward strokes. Then I 'comb' that through with an old mascara brush. The result is very satisfactory...good luck

I've started to dye my eyebrows to get rid of all the grey there and they look much better. But last week I was going out for dinner and decided I needed to trim my fringe first. I was doing the clever thing that hairdressers do, take the ends of the scissors and cut upwards so you don't get too severe a line. It worked quite well but later I noticed a bald bit in the middle of my eyebrow where I'd cut through the hairs there in my cleverness. I hope it grows back but in the meantime I'm using pencil to fill in the blank. It looks so easy when the hairdressers do it!

My eyebrows don't seem to grow very fast and are very fine,I think it looks odd but I only have to have my eyebrows done maybe twice a year - perhaps I could have some sort of extensions ??

ExpatK it made me laugh too - I am known for my daftness so I have decided that it's part of my charm.... It does look like it's going to grow back though - I was worried that at a 'certain age' it wouldn't. The worst of it was I didn't notice till the next morning because I was rushing to go out. We had been invited for dinner to an ex employee of my husband's, and I'd only met him and his wife once before. I was sitting chatting to them for hours at the dinner table, not knowing that my eyebrow was bald.
And treetops, I can't believe a hairdresser did that to you! I hope they gave you a free haircut after that!

In the 60s I and my friends used to shape our eyebrows, quite skilfully as it happens) with a razor. Many many years later, they are such a mess and definitely have a life of their own. The things we learn when it's too late.
