Over the past few days it seems that some of us are losing our motivation to keep moving more.I've realised that I need to incorporate a few moving more routines into my normal day so that they will become a habit ,like cleaning my teeth. The idea being that I will automatically do some exercise without even thinking about it.. I've decided to start with small things and hopefully they will be easier to remember and I'm more likely to do them.So each day I'm going to target 2 areas of my body that need toning up.I'm going to do 30 Squats, before I have my shower, then I will use my small weights to do arm toning exercises whilst I'm waiting for the kettle to boil to make my morning coffee. I'll be aiming to do other things too but will concentrate on just tthese 2 things .Just read through this and want to make it clear that Squats are my leg/thigh exercises and I'm not referring to performing a bodily function lol

Morning everyone I haven't been too well over the last few days, so haven't moved very much at all. But, I am now a lot better, so no excuses and I am gradually getting back into my moving routines. Gilley - squats are really good for targeting wobbley bits! I hate them too, but they do work, you can really feel the muscle groaning!!!!!!! dec - I am concentrating on abs and bingo wings at the moment. |

I agree about needing to get into a routine. I shall be completely thrown when YD leaves primary school in a few weeks as I shall no longer have the discipline of a twice daily 20 minute walk. I shall however try to keep watering the veg patch with the watering can as all the walking to and fro actually amounts to an extra 1000 steps!!!! It's not that I'm growing vast acres of veg, just that the water butt is by the house and the veg are way up the garden! I've also ordered an Omron pedometer to track my steps, as opposed to my present one that counts almost any movement. I'll leave the other exercises to the rest of you for the moment, but I will get out the Wii. It will be worth it in the end. Won't it? DDx |

Hi everyone, I am definitely keen on making routines as a part of everyday life. This is what I tell my students for getting them to practice their musical instrument, it should be like cleaning your teeth. I find it hard to have regular times for myself everyday as my work schedule is different nearly everyday and I finish late then have to cook dinner!!!! Well I am trying to put in the 10 minute slot as that is possible even for my mad life.Gilley I saw your post on FF but as you’re on here too thought you should know I can’t seem to shift the scales either. Have you seen the article in July W&H ‘Who stole my waistline? PAGE 88. Quote: Have walked about only about 3500 steps today but had lots of bending down to tune violins so I’ve got to go out for a walk now . It’s cooled down outside and I just ate Pizza that wasn’t on my plan at all today. ![]() Cecilia
