Pedometers

Hi everyone,
I need to lose a fair bit of weight and thought a pedometer would be an incentive. Can anyone recommend a good one that will be easy to callibrate please?

It was called Pedometer shocker by WhitleyBay on 6/01/09 and Chilla gave me the following advice:
Hi Patsy well I have suggested the Omron, which I have had for 18 months and has been generally thrown about and still works really well. Just type Omron pedometer in to the search and there are quite a few options that come up. There are different Omron ones with differing features around, starting from around £15.00. Some come with a clip for your waistband and some don't, so make sure you get one with if you don't want to put in your pocket. Mine either lives in my pocket or bra and it does actually work pretty well in a handbag unbelievably. Besides counting the steps, it measure the mileage/kms you have done (will have to measure your stride length) calculates how many calories you have burned and has an aerobic count, which means you have to move for a minimum of 10 minutes constantly. If you ever see a mad woman marching up and down at traffic lights or hopping as she picks up doggy doo, don't try and pretend you don't know it's me, I'm just trying to keep the aerobic total going. I like to try and get an aerobic count of 7000 steps in which is about an hours walk.

I joined the Fitbug programme about 18 months ago and they supply Omrons - Amazon have them in stock. I know people who have other brands and say they aren't that accurate. Very happy with the accuracy of mine and as I say it's been in daily use every day and still working fine. Love mine and don't feel fully dressed without him!

I think mine's from Silva (got it from Cotswold Camping's website a few years ago). Very simple to use and the battery has lasted 3 years so far.

I got mine free outside a tube station!! Was in my desk drawer for ages and when I saw people talking about them on here I started using it again...it's ok for now but seeing what the above one does I may have to invest in a better one!

Splash some do both but the cheaper ones may only have steps.You can get a rough idea yourself from the number of steps though

i think you'll find all professional athletes with the honed physiques that we have, have Omrons, Bloss.
By the way can you let me know if you are doing the decathlon or the pentathlon in the next games; if I have to stand on that bl**dy rostrum sharing a gold medal with you once more.....
