Has anyone had this operation?

Hi,
On 7th January I'm due to have a Suburethral Sling operation for 'bladder issues' (delicate description!). The operation is carried out as day surgery but, at the pre-operative assessment, the nurse gave me a long list of things I won't be able to do for several weeks.
To complicate matters, just prior to the pre-op I was asked to do some lecturing at my old uni and I've accepted. It's only for two hours a week but the work will start less than three weeks after the operation and I'm not sure if I'll be mobile enough.
If anyone has undergone this operation, I'd be grateful to hear how quickly you were able to resume a normal life.

Annemari and Lizafizzy, thank you both very much for your good wishes. At the pre-op the nurse said that in the first week after the operation "you won't be able to lift anything heavier than a cup of tea and a chocolate biscuit" - so it isn't all bad news!

Maybe it is wise to get a better answer once your op is over - good luck with that by the way. Even if someone on this forum has had the op they may have a different recovery rate to you. x

Hi RedRose, no knowledge of the operation but hope it goes well for you, still if you can manage tea and choc biscuits hope someone will make them for you.
