How about this for a good BP reading

I have to go to the drs every 3 months for a prescription for HRT, 3 months ago I saw the nurse who did my BP and the reading was 110/70 oh thats good she said you have reading of a teenager, wednesday afternoon I had to go back for more tablets, and my BP was 102/70 very good she said, that is a reading for a child. the way my BP goes on I will have a reading of a baby.
Still I cant be that bad , I have an expanding waist line through Middle aged spread, but BP of a child????

Re: How about this for a good BP reading

Hi Ladies I am new to the w&h forum but could not resist coming on to say how lucky you are to have such a great BP! I have had a very high BP for over 20 years now and have been through a variety of meds to try to keep it on the normal high side (150/95).

It is always fun to watch a new nurse try to take a reading then watch as she turns to look at you with something akin to horror (that reading was 240/176 !) That said new meds are in place and a glass of red wine each night seem to be doing the trick ! So perhaps one of these days I too will see a BP somewhere in your region.

Great excuse to enjoy a glass of wine though ! ha ha

I also have low blood pressure and always have even during pregnancy. I think, for me anyway, it's genetic rather than lifestyle. The only disadvantage is going dizzy if I stand too quickly especially after lying down.

Re: How about this for a good BP reading

I always had low blood pressure too, 110/65, but it's now routinely 130/80, which seems a bit high to me and I was horrified when I went for my op and it was 150/95, but the nurse said it was normal for it to be raised before an operation, and it was very low afterwards. So what is a good blood pressure range for someone in their mid-late 50s and how do you keep it down - do things like deep breathing and relaxation help?

Sorry to you ladies with truly high blood pressure, but I don't really understand how it all works and would appreciate an explanation!
