Food Diary

Has anybody ever kept a Food Diary?

I have been asked to keep one by my DR, as I am having food related problems/allergies.

Re: Food Diary

Hi Mrs Hinge,

Yes, have tried in the past when I was having tummy problems. Best thing to do is if you have a computer, do yourself a list with 5 columns headed - 'breakfast' 'lunch' 'tea' 'snacks' and then finally one for 'comments'. Just jot down everything that passes your lips for at least 2 weeks and then comment at the end if you got any symptoms or good/bad reaction from what you ate that day. It's not easy and it's a bit timeconsuming but it does make it easier to go back and check if something affected you. If you don't write it down, you tend not to be able to recall what you ate and often miss something out which might be something that gives you a problem. With me, it was sometimes 2 or 3 days later when I felt the affects whereas some people feel it that same day. Everybody is individual. Good luck.

Re: Food Diary

Mine would end up a food encyclopaedia. I know I would cheat as I am a real snacker!

Re: Food Diary

I kept diaries when I went to WW.
I have given all that up when I listened to the experts who say "DIETS DON'T WORK!"
And you know what ? they are right!

I've given up "dieting".
I am overweight, well actually not quite true, I am just too short for my weight!
I am extremely healthy, I eat a diet full of vegs and fruits which I love.

But I also eat a little of what is not supposed to be good for you! and I believe it does me no harm!

I am convince I am now overweight for good because of all these years of "dieting" and "food diaries".
Is it more important to be slim or to be healthy?

Sorry about the rant , but had to get it off my chest!

Re: Food Diary

Sial, I'm also short for my weight! I don't keep a food diary as such but do write down what I cook for dinner each night with notes about possible changes for the next time.
