Hi Well think it the menopause is begining to hit me. I am 46 and definitely having irregular periods, starting hot flushes and have notice a drop in libido! Hi Kim Why not just leave your body to it first ? it may not need strong intervention ? sage helped me, but read somewhere that this suits brunettes best .I watched the external effects of a flush and apart from a little bit of extra moisture on my top lip, no more external signs , so I thought I can live with this Upsadaisy |

Hi Kim I agree with upsadaisy and would recommend leaving your body alone to start with. You don't have to take HRT and all it does is delay the onset of symptoms. With a cynical hat on, I feel that the generation who were guinea pigs for the pill are now the guinea pigs for HRT. I personally have taken no products or HRT, but have done the following which may help you: Only buy clothes in breathable fabrics and wear layers so you can strip off or add a layer as needed. Don't drink really, really hot cups of tea or coffee. Let hot drinks cool a little. Overhaul your diet, eat lots of fruit and vegetables and drink lots of water. Accept that your metabolic rate will slow a little, so rev it up by building more exercise into your life. Realise that the menopause is just a stage of life and not the end of life. Keep doing everything you enjoy and add a few more things too! This may sound a slightly "kookie" approach and I'm sure there will be lots of alternative views. Good luck Foxie x. |

I agree with Foxie, try all her suggestions first. I also have the flushes but have just accepted them. They do wake me but not too often. I started getting them three years ago and they were awful but only went on for about four months. Then nothing. This year they started again but not as severe and only lasted a couple of months. They have started again but barely noticable. Hang on in there. |

Hi Kim Yes I agree leave to natural if possible unfortunately I have really suffered with hot flushes and tried everything natural then a friend suggested acupuncture I went to a professional chinese doctor for this and within 2 weeks my flushes had disappeared,they were really spoiling my quality of life up several times thro' the night to change clothing dry myself, I now have acupuncture once a month to top up its relaxing as well. My friend takes HRT and is very pleased with this it all depends if you can cope with symptoms. Good luck. Christi |

Hiya, cutting caffeine out (I drink redbush tea now)no cola and 1 cup of coffee a day instead of several helped me. My flushes are still bad at times, but as they don't last long, put up with them rather than ask for medication. Good luck! x |

Agnus castus may be helpful as it balances the oestrogen and progesterone especially if tak en in the morning before you get out of bed. Do not use if you are on any hormones such as the Pill or HRT. Flaxseed taken daily in your cereal may also help to balance hormones and also soya products.I am nearly 50 with very erratic periods but thankfully have not been experiencing hot flushes or sweats yet. I have been doing the above. Good luck |
