DAY 146 ... WHAT WILL YOU BE PUTTING IN YOUR MOUTH THIS WEEKEND?

Good afternoon, ladies. I hope you are enjoying the Bank Holiday Weekend. All my menfolk have gone to a football match, so I've got a bit of time to myself.

Bank Holiday Weekends often throw temptation into our paths, as we might be eating out, or meeting up with friends and family for a meal. So what will you be eating? I am trying to buy only quality foods, by which I mean NO JUNK.

It's easier when I'm on my own as I just don't have it in the house, because let's face it, if we don't buy it, we can't eat it, unless someone sabotages our efforts by bringing home great big Taste the Difference chocolate cookies - and if my OH is reading this (fat chance) "You know who you are!!"

So this weekend, as well as Think Before You Drink, Before You Drive, try

Think Before You Order, Before You Buy.

A little treat isn't going to wreck your progress, and you know that if you fall off the wagon, we're all here to haul you back on, but it will help you if you make wise menu choices, even if everything tastes better deep fried!!

Have a great weekend.

Good afternoon Sella, yes very wise words, "think before you buy" should be added to our moto collection!

I do the food shopping, so its all my fault I bought that blummin NY cheese cake and cheepo teacakes!!LOL

I was good at work again last night, so feeling proud but fat, but thats normal for me, after Ive done a night shift.

I dont have anything planned for the weekend, OH says that we are "doing the kitchen", the joys!!

Do you realize we are half way thro another 90 days, we should celebrate!

Hi Sella_Vee

I'm just about to go food shopping, so I will take your advice and think before I buy and definitely avoid the cake aisle! Have already written out a list, so that should help.

GS coming for sleepover, so I'll probably be running about a lot - that's the exercise sorted out then!

Made the effort to go for a swim yesterday. Recently my only visits to the pool have been with GS who is only 4, so I haven't done much actual swimming recently! Yesterday I was on my own so did a few lengths, then went in sauna and steam room for a bit. It was lovely having time to get showered and changed leisurely instead of having to rush.

Have a great weekend, girls!

Re: DAY 146 ... WHAT WILL YOU BE PUTTING IN YOUR MOUTH THIS WEEKEND?

Hello girls

I am stuck indoors as I'm on call. I ordered alot of stuff online yesterday and am waiting for the delivery as we speak and OH kindly did the 'fresh' shopping for me yesterday. (There are just some things I won't buy online!)
All in all I think most of the stuff I've bought in healthy but I still include things I really like because the minute I feel deprived then that's my downfall.
My big treat for this weekend is my homemade fish pie which I absolutely love crammed with cod, smoked haddock amd huge prawns. We're having that instead of a roast dinner tomorrow and I can't wait. I've even adapted it from my former recipe to make it even lower in fat but it still tastes delicious and I always sprinkle some good strong cheddar on the top....YUMMY!!!!!

I hope you all have a lovely bank holiday x x x

Re: DAY 146 ... WHAT WILL YOU BE PUTTING IN YOUR MOUTH THIS WEEKEND?

Hi Sella, mjm, Ally and Sallykins.

Good advice Sella. I'm hoping to have a good weekend food-wise as I shall be at work for most of it, so busy and not thinking too hard about food. We may go out for Sunday roast tomorrow, which I shall have and enjoy but will have a small portion of meat and lots of veg (the pub we go to has a lovely variety of vegetables with their roast - usually carrots, swede, parsnip, cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower).

Ooooh - mjm - New York Cheesecake and teacakes - very difficult to ignore. Glad you were good at work - hope you manage to be good over the weekend whilst 'doing the kitchen'.

Must have been nice having that sauna and then a nice shower, Ally.

I like the sound of the fish pie, Sallykins - I love seafood, so this sounds delicious. What's the recipe?

xx

Re: DAY 146 ... WHAT WILL YOU BE PUTTING IN YOUR MOUTH THIS WEEKEND?

Hi girls...if you would really like my recipe for fish pie I am happy to post it....I sort of do it on automatic pilot now so as I make it tomorrow I'll write it out and then post it if you want....
Just to whet your appetites, it involves white wine and garlic (optional) with white sauce and the fish I already mentioned. But the way I cook it there is no additional fat at all..in fact the only fat in it is the lovely extra strong cheddar cheese I sprinkle on top...

As soon as I've made it tomorrow I will post the recipe

Hi Ladies

Brandyqueen congratulations and enjoy your bbq.

Sallykins, your fish pie sounds wonderfull but I don't like fish - do you think I could substitute chicken instead?

Wise words Sella_vee, I shall commit them to memory.

Enjoy whatever it is you and OH are doing in the kitchen mjm!!!

Alexp and intlw enjoy your sunday lunches out and remember to eat slowly.

AllyL, your pool sounds a lot nicer than my cold and grimy municiple.
