Morning Fabulousforumers, I thought i would start the day with this quote: Read outdoors, Walk in the park, Park your car on a hilltop, and enjoy the view.....Thomas Kimkade I thought this most apt seeing, as this will remind me not to nibble and do something else! Have a great weekend girls. Brandyquen xx

Morning Everyone and Brandyqueen. Thankyou for the quote I think this is wonderful. OH and I have a week off from today just to chill. We love to go to the peak district and just breath in the fresh air look at the fantastic views and walk as much as we can but.. The country pub lunches will still be on, however I must ensure that I obay the PMK rules to eat slowly and stop when I am full. I have a problem though, tonight I am having a girly night with some old friends not (clubbing or enything too old for this now) but we do have a laugh. We are going to watch our favorite local entertainer and have not been able to get together for a while due to our commitments, I would like to have a few drinks (just to sociable of course) . What are your views on this and how will this effect my weight loss? Help!!

Good morning, brandyqueen, and thank you for the quote. I might be able to enjoy being outdoors today, as it isn't raining. Hooray!!!!! This might be the best day of the whole weekend. Valaber, hope the sunny weather makes you feel a bit better, or at least uplifts your spirits. Pain can be so depressing. intlw, I'm sure you will loose weight faster if you give alcohol a miss, but it will SEEM longer ! I haven't stopped drinking alcohol since we've been doing this because I want the changes I'm making to be permanent. Having said that I haven't had any wine mid week this week because there was none left over from the weekend. But Friday night is wine bar night. I've recently read an article saying that wine, cheese and chocolate can all be good for you in moderation - I should have cut it out and framed it!! Seriously, if you want to be careful, try having one drink, followed by say, a diet coke or mineral water, then another drink, and so on. I feel quite strongly that feeling deprived wrecks many a healthy eating plan, and I also believe in the 80:20 rule. If you are good 80% of the time, you can let go the other 20%.Now here's a tip for you all. If you want to practise chewing slowly try Jordan's Crunchy Oats. I'm trying to vary my breakfast cereal so I thought I'd try the Tropical Fruit version of these. Boy do they take some chewing. I had less than the recommended portion and I thought I'd still be eating it at lunchtime! Munch, munch, munch, nope still got a mouthful. I'm sure my jawline is now much firmer. They are a bit sweet for my liking, but worth it for the workout! If you've posted while I've been typing this epistle, because it's taken me a while, Good Morning. Enjoy the weekend everyone. |

Thankyou for your advice Sella_Vee. I do agree that I would loose my weight if I could give alcohol a miss but I do enjoy a nice white wine or nice Gin and slimline tonic. I am not a chocolate fan (that must be strange for some people)But it doesn't bother me .When I was going to SW all my sins were wine a gin Must have looked worrying on my sheet. A good tip of having a none alcohol drink inbetween thankyou for that. It could be a long night and I do want to get home in one piece I will keep you posted xx

Hi Everyone! Love the quote Brandyqueen - very apt. Not sure whether I shall be able to do any of this as we are working over the weekend, but hope you are able to! Valaber - so sorry to hear you are in pain. Enjoy your week off ineedtoloseweight. I think that Sella's advice is good re. the 80:20 rule - and, anyway, sometimes a little of what you fancy does you good! How's the jaw feeling, Sella? Hope you all have a good day and a good weekend. xx |

Hi everyone! Hectic day yesterday so didn't get a chance to log in until late. Just typed up a longish post then the b****y computer crashed! Now the phone's just gone - raced downstairs, dialled 1471 - number withheld grrr! Sill racing 2 flights of stairs is good exercise! ![]() Brandyqueen, I love that quote. Anne, hope you feel better soon. don't go near that kitchen - pamper yourself with a nice relaxing bath! Valaber - what's happened to you? Sorry to hear you're in pain. Thought I would let you know how I got on eating out on Wednesday. Didn't have a starter, although nearly everyone else in our party did, then ordered stuffed pepper for main course. It came with 2 peppers filled with tasty rice and vegetables. There was salad with it, which was mainly a heap on iceberg lettuce with some token bits of tomato & cucumber. It was delicious, but I did leave at least half of 2nd pepper and even some of the salad (I love salads, so that's unusual for me). Then came dessert - I had bannoffee roulade which was yummy, but very sweet and I ended up giving last third to my daughter. Did drink some wine of course, but hey, nothing is forbidden! I'm really really pleased at how I handled the meal. Oh, and yes we did win the quiz. I didn't want another drink (prize is a round of drinks) as I still had wine left (yes it's true - and I didn't drink it all!) so I had a coffee. Regretted that later as I slept really badly! OH had taken GS back to our house before quiz started, so I was up at 6 am yesterday! I'd just like to say how supportive I find this forum. All your posts are really helpful and encouraging, so thank you all lots. Have a great weekend everyone!

Hello ladies! Great quote Brandyqueen ![]() Valaber - glad you've managed a left handed post, hugs to relieve the pain. INTLW - I'll be in the Peak District tomorrow, climbing Mam Tor, so if you see something small round and strawberry blonde - it's me!!! Anne - being at home is the hardest time to avoid eating. Follow the advice from these lovely ladies and every time you think you'll weaken, remember we're here for a chat. AllyL - thanks to your post I was able to apply some rules to eating out last night. I'm a coeliac so eating out can be complicated anyway but I spoke to the waitress and they made me a kebab of scallops and prawns to start (no sauce) and then had stir fried veg for my main course, no sauce. It was really tasty and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd like to second AllyL comments - I find the support here great. I'm sure it'll keep me on track. Thanks. I hope you all have a great week end. |

Good afternoon girls, it's Saint Sella of the Screaming Calf Muscles here. I've Salsad with Rosemary, done an Upper Body Workout with Davina and finished off with some Pilates with Lynn Robinson. I'm shortly going to lie down in a darkened room with PMK because I am cream crackered!! And I've defrosted the fridge. PatsyW, it sounds like you had a really healthy meal. AllyL, you are so right, this is the best set of threads on the whole forum. All started by mjm, may God bless her , and all who sail in her, (I'm getting a bit emotional now girls). anne1005, Chocks Away! No, I don't mean you are cleared for lift off, you're not well enough to fly today, but you must get rid of, or hide, or freeze those chocolates. AlexP, I hope you've been dancing round your handbag. intlw, can you do a few lengths for me, as I'm a bit tired now. mjm, are you out of bed yet, cos PMK and I need a lie down? See you later, skinnygators. |

Hi Ladies I'm back from swimming AllyL :Your meal did sound yummy PatsyW:I am small round and strawberry blonde too OMG there will be two of us give us a wave ![]() I have completed 24 lengths not quite the 30 I hoped for but I was really proud of myself. I have a lung problem called Sarcodiosis, it was discovered after a lung biopsy last year, a scan suggested I might have lung cancer but thank goodness it wasn't. I know it sounds daft but I think I was blessed with Sarcodiosis as it's not life threatening. Time after time I have a terrible cough. May 2007 the cough was so severe I kept passing out they said in hospital (was in for three weeks)I had syncope coughing and through many falls when I passed out and many bruises later I broke a rib. Before this I could swim at least 34 lengths every day. It has took me from September last year to reach 24 today. I have been on steroids for a long time hense the weight I cannot blame all of this on the Prednisalone because when I did feel well I confort ate. So I joined the forum and I have not looked back I am feeling more confident I am back at work part time as an NVQ Assessor and Internal Verifier and also help my daughter with our Licensed cafe bar, I am the Licensee, due to the fact OH and I was in the pub trade for 20 years and Our D was born in the trade she is 30 now. Anyway everyone thankyou for all your posts and encouragment It's great to feel I have someone to talk to with the same problems of weight, what we like and dont like to eat, and having a good laugh even when we are down it don't take us long to get back up there does it!! take care everyone and thanks for listening have a great evening I will Im going out with the girls remember xxx

Ooooh Sella, so inspirational - you make tired just reading what you have done. Well done AllyL and Patsy for showing us how to go out for a meal - eat what you like and still eat healthy. Brandyqueen - fab quote - need a new one for tomorrow. AllyP - according to my OH - my jawline gets plenty of exercise - Cheek!! intl - if you have your gin with slimline tonic and your wine with a splosh of soda water , you will be fine. Drunk but fine!!! Val, hope you are feeling better - we would miss you too much if you stop posting And finally - where is mjm - is she still in bed?? It's time for you to wake up - 10 - 9 - 8 - 7 - WAKE UP!!! The positive feelings and supportthat come across on this thread are absolutely fantastic. Eating fresh plums from the garden instead of those chocolate - feeling soooo virtuous now!!! Have a lovely bank holiday and take care Anne xx |

Hi girls I have come a little late to todays thread but can I just say that all the support we have for each other is incredible... I really feel part of a team where I'm not judged on how many pounds I've lost or gained....it's so much more than that...it's a family feeling (don't mean to sound soppy) but it really is... Ladies I salute you all and I am soooo happy I came back I really missed this togetherness and support. x x x x x x |

Hi ladies you are all so full of good ideas on how not to be on a diet! Its taking me a long time to get used to the no forbidden food rule. Everytime I tried to diet before, I dreaded an invitation to dine out - it was always feast or famine with me. Just lately my circumstances mean that I have been dining out at least 3 times every week and its not a problem, I don't feel the need to get all my sin food in and starve tomorrow or to be the diet bore at the table and only have a lettuce leaf and water whilst making everybody else feel guilty. I know I didn't lose this week but I didn't gain - in the past one meal out alone would of gained me weight and here I am actually having three and in control. I feel so free and normal now and I'm positive it is as much to do with the forumers then anything else. I also salute mjm and us all. ![]() Love Gilley |

OH's gone off to a friend's farm for a couple of hours so for once I'm on here in the evening. Trying to decide if I'm hungry and what I want. I had a lovely caesar salad with the Bath Supper Club this week - a menu full of tempting dishes and I really, really wanted salad! I'm now wondering if I can be bothered to wash some lettuce or whether just a slice of toast will do... if I stay on here a bit longer maybe I'll be able to decide. This weekend we're probably doing some gardening for MIL so good exercise (if the rain holds off that is). |
