I really quite proud of myself............. yesterday we ate from the veg patch fresh peas, potatoes, broad beans and a wonderful cauliflower. I've never grown cauliflower before, its really tasted different from a shop bought one, from garden to tale in just 30 minutes. Woodentop |

Is it particularly tropical in Essex because they seem very early. Still they sound lovely and good on you ! |

I am growing runner beans in the flower borders. Stuck them down the end - well my OH put them up in front of the climbing rose and couldn't understand when I said I wanted them moved. You can still see the rose was his reply. Until the beans would grow, yes you would, He then decided to grow some potatoes in bags - first time of trying. He has planted these bags in font of the only flowering clematis in the garden. Clematis and potatoes are now entwined |

Well done you. We used to grow a lot of veg when we were back in England, now I'm growing tomatoes and sun drying them, but most other things tend to wither as it gets far too hot down here. |

I have a small garden, but have grown strawberries and tomatoes in hanging baskets, and in a small patch, grown peas, runner beans, carrots and lettuces. My daughter has never eaten lettuce because she says it is tasteless, but she can't get enough of mine. If I can grow veg, anyone can |

Kez - thats what you get for being in a hurry and having someone elses fingers whilst typing!!! Could blame it on a glass of vino, but I was at work when I posted, sometimes I feel I need a drink whilst here but I dont have any glasses!! We do seem to be able to pick stuff earlier in this part of the country Penniriches, my veg patch is quite sheltered, that may make a difference. Suzie we dont have raspberries yet, just blackcurrents and a few strawberries. But some of our courgettes are just about ready. Scarlets - Mr W is growing potatoes in bags he's very precious about them, keeps saying there not ready yet, I think they are, dont quite know what he's saving them for!! anner - I agree with you daughter, I get different varieties and mix the seeds, they seem to do well and we get a mixed salad at the same time. Fuzetajan - Sun dried toms, YUM. Woodentop |

Well done everyone for growing all those veggies - you'll be putting greengrocers out of business. Courgettes are almost big enough to pick and 1 solitary Kohlrabi (not too sure what to do with a single one) but that's about it for the veggies. Black/redcurrants and cherries harvested and the gooseberries should be ready by next week. Makes me hungry just to read all these posts GumpenScot |
