limoncello
|
|
Does anyone know if tescos are likely to sell limoncello? I'm cooking a dinner for OH's cousin from Oz tonight and she mentioned that she discovered this recently in Italy but didn't manage to get any duty free on the way over here. Whilst looking on the Good Food site for recipe ideas I found one for a limoncello syllabub - only problem where do I get it without spending all day looking (there aren't any good off licences near hear)? Might have to resort to standard lemon mousse I suppose.
Thanks Chrissi

Hi. I've just gone onto the www.mysupermarket.co.uk site and they say that it's only for sale at Waitrose - I don't know if that helps!? Why don't you ring around.
Regards. Nathalie

Re: limoncello

you can find it in most large supermarkets, my local Sainsbury's has it.
When you've used what you need for the recipe, stick it in the freezer and drink it neat, cold from there yum yum.

I got addicted to this in Venice last year, its lovely after a meal. I asked the bar owner if I could buy a couple of the little glasses he served it in and he gave them to me for free.

Well Tescos didn't sell it but I'll look out for it next time I go to the supermarket. In the end I did a lemon syllabub with raspberries. OH's cousins headed off for the rest of their holiday with half a bottle of my homemade sloe gin after sampling it at the weekend and your instructions for finding limoncello so thanks to all of you for your help.

It is gorgeous, tasted it in Rome a few years age,I think Nigella uses it in a raspberry trifle and if Nigella uses it it`s good enough for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ciao Ladies, Great to hear you all like Limoncello, I make my own here in Italy...recipe is on my web page. Its impossible to make in UK as they dont sell the pure alcohol that is required. I believe Lidl stocks it in UK. Put the bottle and small shot glasses in freezer...a good limoncello wont freeze because of the alcohol content!
I love limoncello hence my log in name!!

Thank you for posting your webpage link - your recipes look lovely and the aubergine dish will be tried out soon at a family barbecue celebrating my parents 60th Wedding Anniversary. Do you know if there is any sort of alternative to the unobtainable alcohol or is it best to just buy ready made here? Thank you again.
