What's in your drawers
|
This morning I decided to tackle something I've been putting off for a while - going through my kitchen drawers.
I have four drawers and two countertop containers full of every gadget for slicing, dicing, stuffing and sticking everything imaginable. Some have been around so long I'm not sure when I bought them or what I'm supposed to do with them. What's the most useless gadget in your drawers ?.

Hi gatheringroses. We were thinking about moving early last year so we went through all our drawers and cupboards and threw out everything we didn't use. We didn't move after all but now we have very tidy drawers.
I don't think I have a useless gadget but the best one I have is a lemon grater. I used to grate lemons on a cheese grater and grated my fingers as much as the lemon. This thing is great - I love it. It looks something like this.

Hi Fushia, I have the exact same one - Williams Sonoma -
I love it for grating lemons, nutmeg and parmesan cheese.
I also have a Zyliss rotary grater for parmesan, but this is so quick and handy it stays in my countertop containers
where I keep the utensils I use everyday.
Which makes me wonder why I have the other four drawers full of stuff I probably bought with the intention of using one day - a fabulous dinner party ehere I could try out all my binders full of recipes - which still has yet to happen

We got ours in Williams Sonoma too.
Pretend you're moving and then you'll be forced to tidy the drawers. If not, go ahead with your fabulous dinner party - I'll come given that we're practically neighbours.

Well I'm not really into gadgets but apart from the usual cutlery - Ballon whisk, chese grater, palette knife, nut crackers, serving spoons and that's about it.

I've got the same grater too! I bought it in Boston last year Fushia!
Mr F. loves gadgets and I hate them! I just like to use a chopping board and a sharp knife a lot of the time.

Gadgets galore, OH loves them, from graters to blenders, coffee maker, garlic press, pototo ricer, a pasta maker ( never used) salt and pepper grinder. Like foxie a good chopping board and sharp knife do me just fine.

Yes me too and despite all warnings I use a wooden one and haven't been poisoned - yet!

Foxie, that's funny, I didn't realise you were shopping for sensible things as well as goodies from Banana Republic. I hope it was worth carrying it home. I love mine.
