Can anyone recomend any really good......

Saucepan Sets or makes of Saucepans.
OH and me received a very nice cheque for Christmas,and have decided to invest in some really good saucepans/ cookware.
Both of us like Stainless Steel as the cast-iron type are too heavy to lift. What we would like is the type where the handle stays cool,and the cooking can be controlled via the base.
If anyone knows of any makes that they can recomend,we would be very grateful.

annemari, if the handle is like an empty tube it will retain the heat, and is not good. I have all stainless steel and they are fab, but my handles do get hot because of this. The handle needs to be solid thru and thru I think. I have had mine around 10 yrs though and they still look as good as new and are very light weight. You only have to soak them for a while and they can be cleaned and scrubbed very easily. Even though they are not nonstick things don't seem to stick badly.

Hi Annemari
I would recommend going to John Lewis (if you are near one) during the week (when it is less busy) and talking to the assistants. There is a wide range of saucepans and it also depends what you cook on.
I have an induction hob and use stainless steel pans. I really like them as they are so versatile and easy to clean. I have a couple of saucepans which have two little handles which means I can start dishes off on the hob and then finish them in the oven. So I would recommend thinking about what sort of meals you cook too, to get as much use out of your new saucepans as possible.

I bought a set of Stellar stainless steel, and they've been fab. You can get every size you want, for order or in a set including large fry pans suitable for stir fry, and also, jugs for cooking in. I've have bought loads for presents for others. Highly polished outside, keep their looks for years, heavy base, used on ceramic hob, handles always cool. I've even bought a couple of tea pots. Have a look on the net to see them. Stellar. Try abraxas cookshop, john lewis, beatties, even TKMaxx have sold stainless steel cutlery. Cost me £120 for set of 3 saucepans+frypan in initial deal.

I bought some Stellar pans about 7 years ago. They are very good and still look as good as new although I must use them at least once every day.

hi Annemari, I bought M & S stainless steel saucepans about 10 years ago, they are still brilliant, they go in the dishwasher daily an are not remotely stained.
