Christmas bubbly is a must in our house(followed by 2 panadol and a glass of water!)Has anyone tried the Asda special offer champagne yet? Down from £20- £10 a bottle?
Is it worth it?

Re: Champagne question

Hi whitleybay, maybe the heavy drinkers are all still nursing thier hangovers form CG!! Is Asda's champagne their own make? I have been buying champagne from Tesco's everytime its been on special Nicholas Frullier or however its spelt, and yesterday I bought another bottle of the stuff,it was reduced to £17. I feel like Cilla, from white wine to champagne!! i think that i will be in for a few Panadol's this christmas too. So,did it taste good when you took a full glass. large glass I hope!!

Re: Champagne question

For those who don't like champagne but like bubbles Prosecco is much nicer. M & S do a good one as does Oddbins. On special at Oddbins so just bought 6 bottes for £40. Hic.....

Re: Champagne question

I've always found Asda's Cava to my liking, so I hope the Champagne is good. I didn't know it was on offer.

Whitleybay, let us know what it's like as soon as you can see straight enough to type !

I love Prosecco! Even more than Champagne, and it's cheaper too!

Another vote for the Lidl one!

Re: Champagne question

Mr F bought 6 bottles of rose Prosecco from M&S today. It was down £2.00 per bottle plus an extra 10% if you bought 6 bottles.

We will use it when our neighbours come in for Christmas drinks.

It is a lovely bottle of bubbly Ladies called Francois de Razy- or similar! Red label. Asda
Last yeay liked Ayala from M+S.

Re: Champagne question

Noooo. Never trust a Prosecco wich is not a DOC or DOP, never spend less than 7/8 € a bottle.
Seen the drinking habits in North Europe you'll have to expect a guaranteed headache. Sorry.
If you can, try Cartizze instead, the king of Prosecco. Fresh and vivacious aperitif but with a 11.5 % alcohol content.
Eat something together, you won't get drunk before lunch...

Re: Champagne question

Thanks for that Beba, I love Prosecco too (& Champagne & Cava, love all the bubbles) since learning (trying, very hard) to speak Italian. With Champagne I can tell the differences between the brands but not with Prosecco, all tastes the same but I've only tried the supermarket brands.

Re: Champagne question

Tesco are selling "Alfred Carpentier" champagne at £9.98 a bottle. I tried it a couple of years ago and it was very good. Bought 3 so far.
