Chew a brick.................well, nearly!

I baked my first loaf of bread today and it is really yummy!! But the top crust is a bit hard. any tips for how to keep the top crust soft please or at least softer!!!

Personally I love the crunchy crust but if you put it in a paper bag the steam should soften the crust. I find that the crunchiness disappears fairly quickly anyhow!

Perhaps you could try taking it out of the oven a bit earlier next time. We have a breadmaker that makes really tasty bread. Lovely!
