Well we did well with the puddings, lets try to see what starters we can share. Haloumi cheese starter. cut a pack of haloumi cheese into 8 slices/ Dry fry until browned. Heat up some fresh orange juice with some walnut pieces. Put cheese slices into dish, pour orange and walnuts over, add some rocket and serve with bread. Easy, unusual and everyone likes this. |

A nice autumn starter is my roasted pumpkin & chilli soup. cut the pumpkin into wedges, lay in a roasting tray. Drizzle with chilli infused olive oil, salt&pepper and a few whole garlic cloves. Roast until very soft. Scrape flesh from skin and put in a blender to puree. put in a large pan, add chicken or vegetable stock. You can pass through a sieve at this stage to get a very smooth soup. Heat very well, and if you like add a bit of cream at the end. check for seasoning and serve. Bluebell35xx |

I've stopped doing sit down starters. I just put out some home made dips, bread sticks, carrot sticks etc. Much less cutlery to wash up at end of evening! |

I lay out a simple platter of white anchovies, smoked salmon, cherry tomatoes and french toast. Sometimes I may do a meat selection with a little pate and onion marmalade. |

Loving the sound of these starters - much more of a starter than dessert girl myself! Halloumi cheese....mmmmmm! Couple of my favourites are stuffed mushrooms (stuffed with breadcrumbs, celery, walnuts and topped with cheese), or the Delia stuffed peppers, which I love so much I sometimes serve as a veg dish aswell as a starter! |
