Liz's Home made scones

hi this is my recipe for homemade scones which i make every day at the tea room where i work . 1lb sr flour, 4 ozs margarine, half a teaspoon baking powder , half pint of milk , or quarter pint creme fraiche and quarter pint milk mixed ,2 ozs caster sugar , for cheese scones add 2 ozs strong red cheese plus 1 tsp colemans powdered english mustard mixed in to milk . method , rub marg into sifted flour and bp untill it resembles breadcrumbs ,add sugar and sultanas or raisins 2 ozs of. and then mix to soft dough with milk or creme fraiche , use scone cutter and pace on a tray fairly close together as they rise bigger . egg wash and bake for aprox 15 mins , gas mark 6 or 140 degrees.

Thanks for this Liz - absolutely LOVE cheese scones....haven't made them since school though, will try this recipe in the next few days. Will they freeze?

Thanks. How lucky, a colleague at work is entering a village scone competition, and asked us all if we had any "special recipes". If it's ok I'll share yours with her?

Would just like to say thank you for your recipe - had not made cheese scones in a long while and gave your recipe a go with great results - am inspired to try fruit ones now.

Hi All, Just as a variation....I make cheese scones from time to time and follow the same recipe as Liz but also throw in a sprinkle of mixed herbs to add interest. people all seem to like them!!! they don't last long enough to freeze!! Mayday
