I have a defrosted piece of lambsteak, very small just over a pound,(well itīs just me having dinner tonight) why on earth did I take it out of the freezer yesterday evening??? Today is hot and sunny, The elast thing I want to do is slave over a stove and then sit down and eat on my own! what do I do with this piece of meat, something easy and quick ?? right now, I feel like chucking it and have a drink instead. but that would be wasting good food wouldnīt it? any ideas? but itīs for tonight, tomorrow will be to late, and you are probably out sunning yourselves all of you.. any wizard chef who happens to stroll by their computer please give me some advice I could slice it and grill it couldnīt I? |

I would just cook it, let it cool then mix slices of it through a salad. You could do a couscous salad with the lamb, sun-dried tomotoes, spring onions and maybe some drained, tinned cannelini beans or similar? Loads of herbs in there too, if you have them. Can I come and join you - am hungry now! |

maja:You could slice your steak thinly and then sear it for a minute pan- fry,and cook until done. Leave to cool,concoct a salad or similiar,divide steak for two meals,then have salad tonight,if weather still too warm tomorrow,variation on a salad,or cook rice (if liked)in advance,toss in some sweetcorn and peppers,plus a serving of naan bread. Don't forget the obligatory glass of wine!! ![]() Enjoy

Oh Yes! a salad of couscous, I have fresh herbs (canīt live without them these days)fresh veggies, and lamb. Iīm gonna slice it and fry I think. Thank you! Funny how oneīs mind go blank sometimes, and then, hey presto, your quick ideas comes along and Iīm alright again. Thanks

maja, how about cutting it into cubes and marinating it for a kebab. Marinate the meat in a bit of natural yoghurt it doesn't matter what fat content it has, a bit of crushed garlic and some grated ginger and seasoning. One hour if you are hungry and you can thread the cubed meat on a skewer. If you don't have skewer use the herb rosemary's sticks. Cook under a hot grill and eat with salad and wholemeal bread with dips or sauces and boiled new potatoes. Yum, am going to BBQ this evening. Enjoy your lamb whichever way you cook it.

thanks elsie, annmarie, duckegg, feathers (thanks for tip on nigel slater!!) and marylou (will def. try out making kebabs like you suggested) the lamb turned out quite nice with a couscous salad. chocolate fingers for dessert. wine, of course throughout the meal. weīre an hour before you lot in uk here, so it,s past 23.00 and Iīm off to bed.thanks and good night.
