Heston Blumenthal

Has anyone eaten at Heston's "cheaper" restaurant the Hind's Head and if so what did you have and what was it like??!! Am excited about going there next weekend for a treat with my family but want to make sure I choose the right thing. Have heard his triple cooked chips are to die for!

Any insight greatly appreciated....

Nic

Re: Heston Blumenthal

Sorry I can't help. Aberdeen is very lacking in celeb restaurants, unfortunately. Hope you have a lovely time - those triple cooked chips sound seriously yummy!

Re: Heston Blumenthal

...I misread that as tripe and chips and thought 'yuk'. But he is just the sort top serve it up!! I wonder how much they charge for a plate of chips? Maybe the dearest chip in the world.

Re: Heston Blumenthal

just an update for anyone who is interested....

Heston's was good - not amazing but an experience. Not as expensive as I thought it would be either - about 40 quid a head for 3 courses drinks (mainly water - and a couple of pints from the bar) and coffee. I had potted shrimps (delicious) then oxtail and kidney pudding with triple cooked chips (very nice, very rich)then bakewell tart and yoghurt ice-cream. I am not a big pudding fan but we all decided we'd choose different ones and share. My mam's eccles cakes with a stilton dip were minging - like eating feet!! My dad's banana and lime eton mess was fabulous. Brother's quaking pudding was just erm interesting! Bakewell tart was actually very nice too.

Bray is a funny place - no shops at all - didn't even see a corner shop for a newspaper. There are a few pubs (Heston's Hind's Head and another which serves a lovely Lime and Soda) and The Fat Duck (Heston's posh restaurant - snail porridge and all) and The Waterside (The Roux brothers' posh hotel which actually seems quite reasonable price-wise).

Very good experience.

Had a fantastic weekend with my family.

and the tripe and chips (triple cooked chips) were only 4 quid!!!!!
