Re: Help-Doggy Liver Treats

Morning everyone. Billericaylady, I was always told by various vets under no circumstances give a dog, liver, chocolate, sausages, grapes, so I never have. I wish they would make their minds up dont you?

I have found some good home made food for dogs on US doggie sites, and I remember a few years ago I sent away to a lady in Cornwall and she made a load of stuff that my KC really loved, dont laugh it was his birthday and he was having a DOGGY PARTY, Im not doolally hoest. Plasmo x

Re: Help-Doggy Liver Treats

Hi Billy,

The following Liver Cake recipe was given to me years ago by a dog trainer:-

1/2lb ox liver
6 tablespoons plain flour
6 tablespoons milk
1 egg

Liquidise liver in food processor until pink and runny.
Add flour, milk and egg and liquidise again.
Pour mixture into greased and floured swiss roll tin.
Bake at 180C for 13 minutes and place on rack to cool.
(This cake can be frozen)

I understood that it was "neat" liver that shouldn't be given to dogs.

Hope the above recipe is of use.

Chris
