Re: Vacuum cleaners..which one ?????

I've got a feeling there was a similar discussion a few weeks ago. I love our dyson - 10 years old now and still going with no repairs so far.

Re: Vacuum cleaners..which one ?????

I've just bought a Miele 4211 cylinder for stairs etc and it's great but I have a basic Hoover bagless upright for everything else. It's now 6 years old and no probs so far.

Re: Vacuum cleaners..which one ?????

Hi Curly, yes, ChristinaB is right, there is another thread on here somewhere that will provide you with a nice range of people's suggestions.

Mine is a good old Henry hoover - simple and powerful (the perfect specimen, really!!!) and not much to go wrong - unlike my previous Dyson which was nothing but trouble from day one, and ended up in the skip down the dump after a year as I got so fed up with it.

I ended up with a Morphy Richards as they seemed to get good reviews for the price. Look on amazon for a few reviews.

Re: Vacuum cleaners..which one ?????

I had an old Dyson, which my daughter wanted, so I rang Dyson and got a man in who, for £50, completely overhauled it and said that if it was beyond repair he could put in a new motor for no extra charge. Brilliant service might be worth seeing if they still do this service - it was about 2 years ago.

Re: Vacuum cleaners..which one ?????

Hi Curly.
Just to say my OH has just brought himself a new toy a Robo Vac! OH takes get delight in setting it up and leaving to to clean the carpets downstairs and kitchen floor. It does a good job and with in half an hour even picks up my two cats white fluff. It also came with a charger. The cost was just over £50 and that included the postage I think. Not nearly as expensive as those shown on a TV program I saw just the other day but as you may have guessed it won't be able to do the stairs!

Hello ladies and gents.... possibly.
My name is Nicola, I am from a production company and we are looking to speak to a very house proud person to show the world their life from their point of view, the programme will be about pride and will show how different people live for a channel 5 documentary. It would be great to meet somone who loves their home and looks after it almost obsessivley, maybe even to the annoyance of others.

Let me know if this is you!!

Re: Vacuum cleaners..which one ?????

Really interested to hear everyone's opinion because I have had a Dyson for years and feel it might be coming to the end of its life. There are so many cheaper copies around nowadays and I was thinking of replacing mine for one of those. Dyson's are good but pricey and I can't help thinking there are just as good cheaper alternatives.

Re: Vacuum cleaners..which one ?????

Hope you find a cleaner that suits you and your needs Susieblue

OH says to tell you that his robo vac will detect stairs so one could use them upstairs as well No pushing the cleaner around just press a button and watch it go

As you might have worked out it is my OH who is the most houseproud one of us two.
He's I just and go out shopping

Re: Vacuum cleaners..which one ?????

Hello again
It was me who put the post up a few weeks ago! After much deliberation I have ordered a Sebo X4 which from all my research seems to have come out on top. I have ordered it as I live in France and the stand up ones are really hard to come by (I think it's a height thing!!)
It would seem that a lot of people are happy with the after sales and repair from Dyson but there seemed to be a lot who had needed it which is a worry!
I'll let you know if it's the right chioce when I get it and have a go!!

Re: Vacuum cleaners..which one ?????

Hi, With regard to vacuum cleaners if you want a really light upright cleaner which picks up really well the Oreck vacuum is really good, it is quite expensive but worth it.
There are no tools on board but you get a small vacuum with it so that you can vacuum stairs etc. My friend has had one for years with no trouble and really thinks they are worth the money.

Re: Vacuum cleaners..which one ?????

Bonjour EJ, I have a SeboX4 and am very happy with it. I find it lighter than the big upright Hoovers, which is important for me as I found they hurt my back. The Sebo attachments for stairs are good too.Good luck with it.

PS Sorry I missed they party last night. Can't wait to get back to our house in the Languedoc in June.At least french toasters are wide enough to take slices of day old baguette!!

Miele Cat and Dog - a great vacuum cleaner!
Dyson - can't cope with uprights, very very heavy and over-hyped.
