Son passed his Driving Test

My son passed his driving test last week and I am finding it very strange seeing him drive off in the car. I am both apprehensive and happy for him. Tonight is the first time that he has not needed me to take him to football. Thankfully I have a younger son so my taxi-ing days are not quite over.

Oh that's wonderful Shelbee, such a proud moment when they do, but like you say slightly scary too. Boys can be a bit racey when they are young.
Sorry your taxi-ing days are not over completely tho!

Well done your lad Shelbee!!!!!! I remember when my two lads started driving and passed their tests, then out into the big wide world!! My eldest lad passed first time and I was so pleased I thought I would burst with pride as he always struggled at school and sports etc. and none of his "friends"passed first time -- oooohh it did make me happy!!!!!

Congratulations to your son on passing his test Well done try not to worry my Daughters 39 passed first time but i still worry its natural we always worry no mater what age our children are. Good LUCK Janetc.

Hello Shelbee :-)
I feel exactly the same,my Y.D passed her test a short time ago just before reaching her 18th Birthday.My Daughter saved up for her own car and once she passed her test she bought herself a car within 3 days !
I'm proud mum esp' as i dont drive and it will open up the world for her.
I worry all the time but try to put it to the back of my mind when she's out.

Congrats to your son! I know how you feel about being sl nervous at him going off on his own- my son is learning at the moment and I am already nervous about him passing and having no-one with him when he is out!

Well done to your son. My YS is 17 in October and has the form to apply for his provisional. Won'e be too nervous about the lessons but completely agree with everyone you can't help being slightly stressed when they can take a car out unsupervised. Me ES and D can both drive, but D hardly ever does so as she uses trains/tubes all the time in London.

Well done Shelbee jr. My daughter passed her test at the age of 18. She is 22 now. I do worry but you get used to them going out and about and it gives them independence. x

My son passed his last Wednesday Shelbee!
he is my youngest so we now have 5 drivers in the house! young'uns only insured for the geriatric small car though.
I must admit I am glad my ferrying days are over, I was getting rather fed up with it all. I do worry more about my son out in the car as an inexperienced driver more than I worried about my girls. They were more cautious whereas he thinks he knows it all now and the rules for passing the test can be ignored...ARRRGH! I am letting him go on little local trips to Tescos etc to get hi used to it.

When I passed my test one of the 'payments' for borrowing Dad's car was to taxi my brother around - luckily it was only one or two trips a week at most and only for a few months before he got a moped.
