Only I don't!!! never have done ,never will do,have never liked him from day one! grrrrr even though she has 2 yr old with him, carn't describe on here what I really think about him! but to put it mildly I think he needs help ( he is a mental abuser)! thankfully my duaghter has please, please seen the light and is having her door locks changed as we speak,it has been a catalogue of events over the 4 yrs which I have had to try and hide from hubby as he is older and quite ill, has anyone else had/is had /having similar problems?

Re: Do you like/dislike your daughters partner/boyfriend/husband?

I think both my daughters have got great partners, my eldest daughter has a saint for a fella, I could not live with her again. He has said to her he prefers to spend time with us that his own mother. Our youngest daughter's partner is wonderful and a pleasure to be with.

Yes I do like them both.

Re: Do you like/dislike your daughters partner/boyfriend/husband?

I can't make up my mind about my D's boyf. On the plus side he is a very polite chap, hard working (when it suits him) and treats my D very nicely - when they lived in NZ he really looked after her (she's a bit dizzy like her mum), D likes his mum and is friends with both his sisters, he's very serious about the environment.

On the negative side he is a total hippy - only wants to surf, doesn't believe in having a 'job' (although he never sponges - always pays his way) lives in a camper van (D has been there, done that, had enough) never wants to get married, settle down or have a mortgage. Also, he doesn't like animals much - especially cats (very un-hippy)and we all love animals, especially cats!

Also, when they were living in a camper van in Devon, we went down to see them and stayed in a guest house. They had his teenage brother staying with them and my teenage son slept in a tent next to the van. Boyf took his brother out fishing every day and refused to invite my son as they wanted some 'brother time' even though the boy had already been there for a week and spent every day with him. I think that is rude after all the hospitality we have shown him.

D is only 23 but they have been together 5 years and she would like to have children one day. I just worry that she is going to turn round one day at 40 odd and realise it is all too late.

As I say, not sure but having written all that down I realise that I do have a problem with him! I haven't seen him since xmas as he spends all his time on his allotment. Maybe he doesn't like me either - Doh!

Re: Do you like/dislike your daughters partner/boyfriend/husband?

My parents disliked my ex OH at first. Said he wasn't good enough for me etc, etc. of course i didn't listen and married him and had 2 children. They then got to quite like him (in fact i think they preferred him to me) until 18 years later, he ran off with a 27 yr old and now they don't like him again and remind me that they always said he wasn't good enough for me. So they did a full circle. As for me disliking my D's partners, thankfully she is too young for all that, but I can't see anyone being good enough for my little princess!
