MONEY OFF VOUCHERS
|
|
I just signed up for the WHSmith e-club (www.whsmith.co.uk/eclub) and got £20.00 in money off vouchers. The ones I got have to be used by the end of April, so you may have to hurry, but it seems like a good offer for those of us who buy books like others buy shoes and handbags!

Hi Sealover, Just a quickie. I have started to read The Book Thief and am finding it hard going. Cant seem to get into it. Did you read it? Maybe its me. But I will struggle on to finish it.

Hi Carrie
No, I haven't read it, but it's on my (very long!) list. I saw it the other day in the Books for Children section which, having read a synopsis of it, didn't seem very appropriate to me. Will let you know when, and if, I get round to reading it.

Hello Ladies, just a quick break from book of the month to say, carrieb, that I have read The Book Thief and I would say stick with it.I quite enjoyed it(tho why it is seen as a childrens book is beyond me) am really glad I read it as it was quite a different book and does get easier---in my opinion---the more you read.Keep us informed------if you have time.

OMG a Children's book!!! Way to go Carrieb. Dont I feel really foolish now. Saw it in a book review but obviously did'nt see it was in the children's section. And I'm having a problem getting into it!! Says a lot.
Well that just piddles on my fireworks today!!! and if the forum police are reading, Come and take me away. Or better still, let the squadron attack. Washing will be on line early in the morning.

No, no Carrie - it might not be a children's book. Could be that WHSmith had misplaced it. Or it might be a book that is intended for children AND adults - like the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, which was marketed to adults and children.
And don't worry, I won't let the forum police take you away. If necessary, the squadron will come and rescue you. You're too valuable to lose!

I dont think it IS a childrens book carrieb, its just one of those that they say is a bit of a crossover between adult and childrens. It has had very good write ups (not that that means anything sometimes)and I still reckon you should keep with it unless you are really desperate to get into one of the other books piled up by the bed---whoops sorry that was my bed I was looking at!!!
