ANYONE READING THE BOLTER BY FRANCES OSBORNE
|
|
I am reading this at the moment about three quarters of the way through it. What an eye-opener. It is about the authors great grandmother. a member of the aristocracy who led a debauched lascivious lifestyle and caused great scandal in 1920's genteel society. Quite unlike anything I have ever read, and I am gripped.
Would love to know if anyone else has read it and enjoyed it as much as me. If you haven't read it I really would say give it a go.

No, I haven't read it, Dizee, but I saw Frances Osborne being interviewed on the television about it - she's George Osborne's wife, isn't she? - and it looked interesting. Glad you are enjoying it, I might give it a try!

I've just finished it, and loved it. A very readable account of a fascinating life - and maybe some understanding of why she behaved that way. As one of the reviews on the cover mentioned - it is the sort of book you stay up to finish.

I couldn't put it down either -I find any book on the Happy Valley crowd fascinating and had read other books which had mentioned Edina. I thought she was certainly a woman born before her time.

Thanks for the recommendation Dizee. I really enjoyed other books about The Happy Valley set, so will have this one on my list. I have enjoyed all the recommendations from forumers, so please, keep them coming!
