Hi Bluebird-at last, someone who lives this far north! I love to read, but am a bit erratic in time spent reading, but let's keep in touch! Have just started The Book Thief...

Hi Bluebird & RedPoppy

Did you manage to get your book club up and running? I live in Inverness and joined the forum last week, like you Red Poppy I can be an erratic reader but do enjoy it.

Please let me know if you got together and I can maybe join in.

Cheers
Tracey (April12)

Hi Bluebird, Poppy and April - its lovely to find some forummers in this area I live over on the west coast about 70 miles from Inverness. I have wondered about the Book Thief - please let me know how you get on. Have a great weekend - Jan

Re: book clubs in the north of Scotland

Hello all!
It's taken me a while to get back on the forum since it crashed, and I'm now redpoppy2 without the pic as couldn't get logged on with previous names. Just posted on the other thread....would love to meet you all for coffee some time. Hope you enjoyed the ballet Jan. I'm a friend of Eden Court and was there earlier in the week to see The Reader. It's quite a trek for you isn't it, so needs to be a good performance when you get there!
Finished The Book Thief. Loads of folk have rated it highly, although there's some original ideas there I thought at over 500 pages it was too long(!) and found myself skimming over a fair bit. Wonder if I'm the only person to have done this!

Hi redpoppy2 - have just got back from the ballet - it was lovely - first time I have been to Eden Court - had a front row seat in the circle . I love going to the theatre and used to go often when I lived in England.
Think I may give Book Thief a miss and start The Pirates Daughter which has been unopened in the cupboard for ages. Has anyone read this ?
Have a great windy weekend ! Jan x
