No Time For Goodbye by Linwood Barclay

If you enjoy Robert Goddard, reach for Linwood Barclay’s debut novel. No Time For Goodbye is a tightly plotted thriller that neatly ties up all the threads and brings the 25 year mystery of the disappearance of Cynthia Bigge’s parents and older brother to a satisfying and believable conclusion. Was it an alien abduction or an FBI conspiracy? Did the 14 year old Cynthia know more than she admitted? No, the answer is something far more understandable but you’ll have to read the book to discover what. This is a genuine page-turner and justifiably on Richard and Judy’s summer list.

Thanks for the tip Ashbee. I have read and enjoyed several of Robert Goddard's books so this will be next on my list. I must admit that they do recommend a lot of good books.

I have this book to read on holiday in a couple of weeks...have resisted starting it before then! Love Robert Goddard, so glad you think it compares. Will let you know what I think when I have read it.

Have now finished the book and I agree with Ashbee. Thouroughly enjoyable read. It is not one of these gruesome crime thrillers. Instead it is a highly entertaining mystery thriller. Must admit that it did peter out a bit towards the end though and I am not sure that I am completely convinced by the behaviour of certain characters. That said if you want a good read this is for you.

I've just read this too while on holiday. Really enjoyed it definately unputdownable. Also read the latest Robert Goddard. Yet another story about a middle aged man getting embroiled in a mystery much against his will but I do love them and again unputdownable. I'm back home now so will be back to the 10 minute read before turning the light off!

What a fantastic read! a right jigsaw of a book. Have to say I thought all sorts of scenarios during the book but never the one that it was.

Thanks for the recommendation and I wanted to tell you I resisted turning to the last page although I was very tempted several times. I have tried to pm you, not sure you are getting my messages or maybe you are just busy. Catch you soon. Billie
