Newbooks

I found a new (to me) magazine in Borders yesterday called 'newbooks'. It's aimed at readers and reading clubs and although I bought number 46 I haven't seen it before. It is interesting - includes extracts (couple of pages long) from some new books which give a flavour and interviews with writers etc....has anyone else seen it?

Re: Newbooks

Hi Ashbee (new name?!),

A year's subscription for 'newbooks' (6 issues) was one of my Christmas presents (and a very thoughtful present!). I really enjoy the articles about writers and the extracts from new books. I expect you noticed that you can claim a free paperback and buy paperbacks from the 'garage sale' for £2.50. All the titles are relatively new (not old rubbish!) and orders are delivered in about a week. I think the magazine is great for avid readers!

Re: Newbooks

Definately a thoughtful gift! Better than bath salts any day. I'll be keeping an eye out for the next issue...

(PS a slight amendment to the screen name...I'm not very imaginative but I've gone back to the old way of spelling the name)

Re: Newbooks

Hello jdm and Ashbee, like the sound of the magazine"Newbooks" but cant say that I have ever heard of it,is it just a store magazine(dont think I have ever seen a Borders shop either)or can it be bought from independant newsagents?Certainly agree that it sounds a good idea for a gift so a little 'info' would be great-----please.

Re: Newbooks

I have just been on their website, and it looks really good, I am taking them up on their offer. For a free copy of magazine, also a couple of mags are available to download for free. Just put new books in your search engine!

Re: Newbooks

I took this magazine on subscription for a year, but then got bored with it to be honest and didn't enjoy it that much. But I know lots of people who really like it, so it's obviously a matter of personal choice. I get bored easily!!

Re: Newbooks

I only discovered this mag at the weekend but am curious why you changed your mind about it Gothfairy - it made a change from the usual highbrow literary mags but I wondered if it might just publish the same sort of stuff every time?
