The book of the hollywood movie.set in the courts of henry 8th whilst married to first wife catherine,he woos mary at the age of 12 and this king got what he wanted.mary suffers horribly at the hand of her uncle and family .he then moves to anne, who,i'm sure you all know was beheaded, this follows the anguish she suffered losing child after child and finally being executed for inappropriate relations with her brother.overall this book is excellent,i was shocked by the way these girls were expected to behave.i recommend this book to anyone,it's a riviting read.

I really liked this book despite it's fairly leisurely pace. A different and quite fascinating look at a period many of us know well from history books.

Unfortunately, the story drawn by Gregory is a load of tosh and she came in for huge criticism from historians when it was first published. I agree Anne was mistreated by Henry but Mary was no innocent, having been the mistress of the king of France before she caught Henry's eye.
