Cardiff Group Ogmore Walk Sunday 18th May

Our next walk is a 6 mile circular walk in Ogmore hopefully ending up in one of the local pubs for lunch. We do operate a car sharing scheme so don't worry if you haven't got transport.

Beginning among the dramatic ruins of Ogmore Castle, this gentle route takes in an incredible variety of farmed and natural landscapes. You'll start by crossing the Ewenny river on stepping stones, continuing through open fields and woodland towards the coast. The final leg takes you across Wales' tallest sand dunes at Merthyr Mawr and along the beach for a peek at the remains of Candleston Castle.

Sorry didnt know where to put this but was just wondering how Sue got on yesterday in her LOOOOOOOOOOOONG walk? Sorry Pat that you weren't able to do it,but hope it was a success for whoever did.

I know that you are all dying to know about my back...Actually it is beginning to improve and I can now walk without looking to the ground all the time!
Sue did very well and clocked up 17 miles at a good pace. It is true that I was unable to go with her, but we quickly set plan B in operation so she couldn't get out of it and Kate and Peter walked the first 11 miles at a brisk pace(Too brisk for Pete as he wasn't allowed to pop into all the pubs on the towpath) Then after a cup of tea in the garden here, Sue's husband David joined her and she did the last 6 miles fetching me some eggs from the farm! (Well, I am poorly....)
It wasn't the training session that we had in mind but she is now confident she can do Blenheim. I suggest that those who want her to come back with fresh eggs get their order in soon!

Thanks to Pat, Kate and Peter for sorting me out. I feel remarkably well today - no aches at all. Just goes to show what regular walking can do for you. I need to do another long walk this weekend so probably won't be able to join you on Sunday which is a shame because it sounds like a lovely way to spend a morning.

Good luck for the walk Sue if we dont see you before. Pat sorry to hear you back is troubling you, pity you cant make Sunday I hear the chips are good over at Ogmore!

Sorry I can't make it on the 18th, we shall be away. Hope you all have a good walk and the chips are good!
Great to know that Sue was happy with her 17 miles on Sunday. Enjoyed her company and the excercise was good for me. Good Luck for the 31st!

Well done Sue on the 17 miles. A real achievement - and well done Kate & Peter on being the cavalry in helping out. I hope you feel better soon Pat. I would love to come on the walk this weekend but hubbie is home tomorrow after being away and I did not feel I could ignore his request for ' a small walk locally' with him. Hopefully another time when I have earned a few more brownie points!!
