X Factor - Do they want to sing or do they want to be famous?

Most of them seem to want the fame above all. No wonder so many are disappointed.

Do too many young people want fame above all else?

Watching it now, and I think some wrong decisions have been made (but what do I know)

I think some genuinely do want to sing, but mostly they want fame and all the trappings.

I cannot stand Danni Minogue....Botox Face

AND I am so sick of the crying, for God sake

I can only imagine how emotional this people are feeling,to be standing in front of Simon and the other Judges can make or break their future....

I dont like the blond girl that Cheryl has picked with the breathy voice and the way she doesnt really say the words properly, it will get on my nerves after one song.

Well they arnt the ones me and my grandaughter chose last night !! but hey, we only buy the records etc. I think most of them are out just for quick fame, money and popstar lifestyle and not really interested in music.Theres a couple in there that i really didnt like, attitude mainly.Last years were really good, we went to one of the live shows,it was fab, not sure about this bunch yet but we will give it a go.

Either way I wish they would stop prattling on about how this is their 'dream'! Dream about finding a cure for cancer, eradicating third world poverty, but being famous for 5 minutes?????

I found tonight's "result" show a real pain to watch - the constant round of tears was getting on my nerves.

Can't wait for Strictly Come Dancing though ....

My ED has auditioned 4 times for it but no luck so far...she has won nearly every singing competition she has ever entered & could if she wanted to give a very sob story but refuses to,In my oppinion they dont let the best talent through then again I would say that wouldnt I

Re: X Factor - Do they want to sing or do they want to be famous?

I have just watched some of this programme and have to say it was when I last saw it and still is absolute crap. Contrived, cheesy and designed to make that man Simon Cowell obscenely rich. If I want see real aspiring musicians I go along to an unsigned night at a local music venue.
Why do they have to talk about peoples looks, is it beacuse they follow a formula, or is that just the cynic in me. And why does it end with a record released just before Xmas, oh yes makes that dreadful man even richer!!!!! All the sob stories and wailing just makes me turn it off.

Re: X Factor - Do they want to sing or do they want to be famous?

Evening Mange, I think they definitely want both. I love to sing (not very well I hasten to add)but if I had ever wanted to be on X Factor it would have been because I loved singing AND I wanted the fame and fortune, being realistic you couldn't possibly not want that if you choose that show. Lots of people sing for the love alone, in a choir, or a singing group and gain no wealth or fame from it, quite happily.
Anyone who goes on the X Factor knows to expect the fame aswell, and obviously accepts that with open arms.

I'm so fed up with it...I can't bear the sob stories. And I agree that they just seem to want to be famous. It's a shame, because there is some genuine talent.

dizeeblonde and RunGirl - I totally agree - it's a formula and I can't bear the tears and the sob stories anymore either.

oh!
I seem to be the only one who loves x factor.
The suspense nearly kills me. I agree with alot of you about all the tears though, it all got a bit much really. Surely they want someone who can be strong and keep it together. Not someone who gets overwhelmed by emotion every five minutes. I'm glad the guy who lost his wife got through, he gets my vote. ( not that ive ever voted you understand, i'm not that sad)
