Anti-cancer - a book we should all read

I would like to recommend this book because it is such a profound study about how cancer starts in the body and the way in which we can, by the way we live, halt or even reverse it sometimes. It is particularly helpful for people who have already undergone successful treatment and want to help themselves in their daily lives. It is called 'anti cancer a new way of life' and is by Dr David Servan-Schreiber who found out he had a brain turmour 15 years ago. Much of the research on foods and pesticides we already know about but there is much more to this book than that. It also has a small book on the inside cover as a pocket guide which can be carried with you when you go shopping for food. The Mail on Sunday serialised the book a couple of weeks ago. I hope some people will find it useful.

...are you related to this man???....and in with a chunk of some of the royalties???...JOKE!!!

Sounds interesting??...but wouldnt recommend anyone use it as an alternative to treatment...I know someone who did and died thinking diet/homeopathy was the best cure.....

Re: Anti-cancer - a book we should all read

No Duffy - I don't know the author. I was just impressed by the article about him and ordered the book. It is not meant to be an alternative to conventional treatment. He found out he had a tumour when he was only 30, had it removed and all the usual treatments, and then asked what he should do to help himself stay healthy. The reply was to get on with his life and he would be monitored which he thought was simply not enough. He then put together all the research he could on how cancer occurs and how it can be contained and this is really a guide for all of us to try to overcome the damaging effects of the way people's lives have changed since World War II. The reason I put it on the forum is that I think loads of people would find it useful. I wouldn't mind some of the royalties....!

....I have a feeling my mum bought it for my dad...he was diagnosed with prostate cancer a few months ago...I dont think he will have read it..but in my role as a nurse I would find it interesting...funny how so many cancers are diagnosed these days...and yet many years ago all they ate was home cooked foods etc..and very little cancer..something to be said hey for processed and micro zapped foods??..x

Issi, I will defo be looking for that book.Cancer is the main cause of death in my family, and anything that will help redress the balance will do for me.My diet , although not too bad, could do with some improvement.Wish I had weaned my daughter on organic food. The only thing we insisted on is that she never ate beef.(I was pregant when the CJD scare was rife)

Re: Anti-cancer - a book we should all read

Thankyou so much for this information. I will get hold of a copy. Having had breast cancer, sensible, straightforward advice is always welcome. I'm sick of reading reports daily that everything from eating grapefruit to sitting near a microwave(!)can cause cancer.
Always good to see a bit of dark chocolate and red wine wont do you any harm!
